EPL Matchday 13 Betting Tips
Liverpool vs Southampton
Sunday 2:00am AEDT, Anfield
The Reds bounced back from their first loss of the season with a resounding 4-0 victory over Arsenal on Matchday 12. Liverpool were at their brilliant best in a second half blitz which saw them score three goals in twenty five minutes. The Reds host thirteenth placed Southampton, who are coming off a shock loss to nineteenth placed Norwich. This matchup pits the league’s best attack in Liverpool, against one of the league’s worst in Southampton.
Liverpool have scored a league high 35 goals and have the two leading goal scorers with Mo Salah (11) and Sadio Mane (7). Southampton have scored just 11 goals this entire season and are going to have a tough task keeping up with the Reds attack, as they’ve only scored six away goals this season. Liverpool have been utterly dominant in the last four years against the Saints, going 7-0-1 in their last eight Premier League fixtures against Southampton.
The record is impressive itself, but the 19-3 aggregate score truly reflects the Reds stranglehold over Southampton. Liverpool are arguably the most in-form team in Europe, and the quality they have across the pitch is simply too much for Southampton to cope with. Liverpool are unbeaten at home this season, and they’ll continue that record with a convincing win over Southampton.
Manchester City vs West Ham
Monday 1:00am AEDT, Etihad Stadium
A huge top four clash takes place on Monday morning as the fourth placed West Ham travel to the Etihad to take on second placed Manchester City. The Hammers slipped from third place on the Premier League table after their 1-0 loss last week against Wolverhampton. This clash sees two of the best attacking sides in the Premier League face off in what is set to be a thrilling encounter. Manchester City have the 3rd best attack in the Premier League with 25 goals, and West Ham have the 4th best attack with 23.
Where City will gain the upper hand in this matchup is through their defence. City have conceded just six goals from twelve games, the second fewest in the Premier League this season. In comparison, the Hammers have conceded fourteen goals. West Ham have struggled against Manchester City in the last five years, with an 0-1-8 record against the reigning champions, with their last win over City coming back in 2015.
Both sides come into this game in excellent form, with four wins and one loss in their last five games, and this game will likely be a free flowing affair. The experienced City outfit are well accustomed to playing in big games, and they’ll be desperate to stay in touch with Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table. Expect a big performance from the reigning champs.

Chelsea vs Manchester United
Monday 3:30am AEDT, Stamford Bridge
The Ole Gunnar Solskjaer era ended after Manchester United’s horror 4-1 loss to Watford on Matchday 12, as interim manager Michael Carrick looks to pick up the pieces as they head to Stamford Bridge to take on the league leaders. Chelsea are coming off a 3-0 win over Leicester, which saw their unbeaten streak in the Premier League extend to six games.
The Red Devils defence has been in absolute tatters recently, conceding 15 goals in their last five Premier League games, and are currently the 18th ranked defence in the league. Coming up against a Chelsea side that has scored the second most goals in the Premier League this season (30) and have had the most individual goal scorers for any one team (15), United’s case to turn around their defensive slump doesn’t get any easier.
Not only are they a juggernaut in attack, but they’re the best defensive side in the Premier League, conceding just four goals this season. Manchester United are 1-1-5 in their last seven Premier League games, and 0-4-3 in their last seven Premier League matchups against Chelsea. The Red Devils haven’t defeated the Blues since 2017. Manchester United have a goal difference of -9 in their last five matches, and the league leaders are the last team they want to be facing this weekend. With Chelsea firing on all cylinders at both ends of the pitch, this match could get ugly.
