We’re in the transition period for a lot of major sporting codes at the moment, but one that we can look forward to this weekend is the EPL. There’s a full slate of games set to play out over the next couple of days and as usual, we have our best bets for the key fixtures right here!
EPL Matchday 7 Betting Tips
Liverpool vs West Ham United
Anfield, Sunday 4:30am AEDT
Liverpool were able to get back onto the winners list last weekend with a cagey 2-1 win over Sheffield United. Diogo Jota continued his impressive start to life with the defending champs with the winning goal, before following it up with their opening goal in their midweek UCL clash with Midtjylland.
West Ham proved hard to break down in their most recent clash against Manchester City. The Hammers were able to force a 1-1 score-line to make it back to back draws against top six clubs. All in all, it’s been a pretty strong start to their new campaign when you consider how tough their draw has been.
West Ham have pushed a couple of the big sides in recent matches, but Liverpool at Anfield is a whole other beast. The Reds are finding some of their better form with three wins on the spin in major competitions and we expect them to get the job done on their home soil pretty comfortably this weekend.
Aston Villa vs Southampton
Villa Park, Sunday 11pm AEDT
Aston Villa got off to a red hot start this season with four wins in as many games, but hit a bit of a road block last weekend in the form of Leeds United. Villa were comfortably beaten by a 3-0 score-line on their home deck, which they’ll be hoping is just a once off.
It looked as though Southampton were in for a long season when they got off to a 0/2 start and were thumped 5-2 by the Spurs in Matchday 2; however, the Saints have proved the doubters wrong and have bounced back with three wins from their past four games, headlined by their super impressive 2-0 home victory against the then undefeated Everton last weekend.
Both clubs have exceeded expectations in the early stages of this season, but we see Southampton as the most likely to continue on their way. The Saints have looked better in every game they’ve played, while Villa were dismal last weekend in what was a harsh reality check. All things considered; we’re loving the price of a mini upset for Southampton in this one.
Manchester United vs Arsenal
Old Trafford, Monday 3:30am AEDT
Manchester United showed great maturity with how they were able to bounce back from a humiliating defeat against Tottenham a couple of weeks back. They’ve responded with impressive wins against Newcastle, PSG, and RB Leipzig, and a scoreless draw against Chelsea.
Arsenal had an opportunity to leap into the top four with a win over Leicester at home last weekend, but they weren’t up to the task. They succumbed to a Jamie Vardy goal in the 80th minute and weren’t able to find one of their own despites having 12 attempts at goal to Leicester’s six.
The Gunners downfall in recent seasons has been their inability to get results away from home, and this campaign seems to be no different. We simply can’t see them upsetting a red-hot United outfit at Old Trafford, particularly when you consider the form of young gun Marcus Rashford up front.
