The smorgasbord of EPL action continues this week as we have another full slate of games from Wednesday morning to Friday morning. Matchday 22 kicks off with an interesting clash between Wolverhampton and Arsenal and we have you covered with our betting tips for the key games below.
EPL Matchday 22 Betting Tips
Wolverhampton vs Arsenal
Molineux Stadium, Wednesday 5am (AEDT)
The Wolves are in 14th place on the EPL table are still on the slide down, not having won a Premier League fixture since a 2-1 win over Chelsea all the way back on the 16th of December. They have scored just 21 goals in 21 games so far this season, the 2nd fewest of any team not in the relegation zone and are coming off a disappointing 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace on the weekend.
The Gunners have been nudging closer and closer to European qualification, having won their last two in the lead up to their weekend clash with Manchester United. They could only muster a 0-0 draw against the Red Devils, who were top of the table at the time of the game. Arsenal now sit in 10th place but are just four points behind West Ham in 5th.
The Gunners are great value, even away from home here. They are playing on a different level to the Wolves at the moment and their 0-0 draw with Manchester United is testament to that. They have not lost a Premier League clash since a 2-1 loss to Everton all the way back on the 19th of December and we don’t expect that to change against a terribly out of form Wolves side on Wednesday morning.
Leeds United vs Everton
Elland Road, Thursday 6.30am (AEDT)
Everton have been such an interesting team in the 2020-21 EPL season so far. At the start of the year, they were arguably in the best form in the league, sitting atop the table after winning their first four games of the season. They went through another great stretch of form which saw them win four straight games over Chelsea, Leicester, Arsenal and Sheffield, but have since won just one of their last four.
Leeds won’t be challenging for anything significant this EPL season, but they are enjoying the fact that they are comfortably out of the relegation zone in their first season back in the top flight. They currently sit in 12th place on the EPL table with 29 points and have won their last two games on the trot, both away from home over Newcastle and Leicester.
Really tough game to call here. Leeds start as slight favourites at home but their home record this season doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence. They are just 3-2-4 at home this season, while the Toffees are the fourth best team in the league on the road at 6-1-2. Back the Toffees to get the chocolates as underdogs here.
Tottenham vs Chelsea
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Friday 7.00am (AEDT)
The game of the mid-week round sees Tottenham hosting Chelsea on Friday morning. The Blues have been sliding down the EPL table of late but bounced back with a 2-0 win over Burnley on the weekend. They now sit in 7th place and are tied on points with Tottenham, who sit one spot above them on the table. A win for either team here could see them pull within just three points of Leicseter in fourth place, which would be a great springboard into the back half of the season.
Tottenham have lost their last two games to Liverpool and a really uncharacteristic loss to Brighton on the weekend. They have a game in hand on the majority of the teams above them on the ladder, so a win here would put them squarely back in the hunt for top four. They have been just average at home this season, maintaining a 4-3-3 record at Hotspur Stadium.
Interestingly, the Blues start as favourites on the road here, which is probably because of their pretty dominant record over their London rivals over the past few years. They are undefeated in their last four Premier League fixtures against Tottenham, with the Spurs last win coming all the way back in 2018. We think they snap that record at home this week, as the Blues have been poor on the road this season and Tottenham have a lot to play for here.
