It was an interesting weekend of FA Cup fixtures as well as a couple of make-up games in the EPL but we are back to regular scheduling now, with a whole round of games set to take place from Wednesday-Friday morning this week. We have you covered with a preview and betting tips for some of the key matchups in Matchweek 20 below.
EPL Matchweek 20 Betting Tips
Southampton vs Arsenal
Wednesday 7.15am (AEDT)
Southampton will be looking to defeat Arsenal for the second time this week, after the Saints eliminated the Gunners from the FA Cup on the weekend in a 1-0 win. Southampton currently sit in 11th place on the EPL table with an 8-5-5 record but have won just one of their last five games in the Premier League. They do sit two points above Arsenal, and they’ll be hoping to extend that lead on Wednesday morning at home.
The Gunners had a rough start to the Premier League season but have been one of the form sides in the competition since Christmas. They have won four of their last five games and are surging up the EPL table. They have an 8-3-8 record and have allowed just 19 goals this season, the fewest of any team outside of Manchester City, Tottenham and Aston Villa.
Tough game to call here. On Premier League form alone, you’d have to think the Gunners are the clear choice, however, we are just a few days removed from Southampton defeating them in the FA Cup. One thing in Arsenal’s favour this week is the long list of Saints injuries, that will see Djenepo, Obafemi, Redmond, Smallbone, Tella and Vestergaard all out of the line-up. Arsenal are good value to get revenge on the Saints here.
Chelsea vs Wolverhampton
Thursday 5.00am (AEDT)
It’s almost panic stations for the Blues, who currently sit in 9th place on the EPL table, albeit just five points outside of the top four. After a strong start to the season, the Blues have lost three of their last five and have an 8-5-6 record ahead of their home game against the Wolves on Thursday morning.
The two teams met back in December and on that night, the Wolves claimed an upset 2-1win. They’ll start as heavy underdogs again on the road, likely due to the fact that they will be without some key players in the likes of Jimenez, Jonny and Marcal. The Blues don’t have nearly as much to worry about on the injury front, with only Ngolo Kante set to miss from their best XI.
Love the value of the Wolves here. There’s no way that just a few Wolves injuries and a home field advantage for the Blues makes them worthy of the $1.57 price tag. The Wolves have already beaten them this season and the Blues have been in horrendous form of late. Back Wolverhampton with the double chance.

Tottenham vs Liverpool
Friday 7.00am (AEDT)
Is the Liverpool dynasty finished? If it is, it sure has been short lived. Unbelievably, the Reds have not won a Premier League game in their last five fixtures, losing games to Burnley and Southampton in that period as well as recording three draws. They were also bounced from the FA Cup in a 2-1 loss to Manchester United on the weekend to add salt to the wound.
They now sit in fourth place on the EPL table with a 9-7-3 record and are six points behind ladder leaders Manchester United. The Spurs will also be looking to jump above the Reds on the table on Friday morning, as they currently sit just one point behind their opponents and are coming off a four game unbeaten streak.
Tottenham has not beaten Liverpool in their last seven fixtures in all competitions but if it was to happen, you’d think the form that Liverpool is in at the moment could help snap that streak. The Reds have just the 13th ranked road record in the league at 2-5-2 and we think the Spurs are great value at home.
