The back half of the English Premier League season is underway and although Liverpool have one hand firmly grasped on the domestic league trophy, there is still plenty up for grabs in the later parts of the season. See our preview and tips for the key games in Matchday 23 here.
EPL Matchday 23 Betting Tips
Watford vs Tottenham (Saturday 11.30pm AEDT)
Tottenham have been in some horror form of late, losing their last two games on the trot and four of their last 10 to drop to 8th on the EPL table. They were beaten 1-0 at home by Liverpool on the weekend in a game where they controlled just 33% of possession and were thoroughly outplayed.
Watford sit in 17th place on the EPL table but are the only team outside the top 13 that will be coming off a win this week. In fact, they have won their last three games in a row to climb out of the relegation zone, defeating Aston Villa, Wolverhampton and Bournemouth over the last three weeks.
As bad as they have been at times throughout the year, I like the look of Watford at home here. They seem to have found some form, having not lost a Premier League matchup since their 2-0 defeat at Anfield all the way back on December 14. They have taken a point in four of their last six against Tottenham and I think they are good value to do so again on Saturday night.

Newcastle United vs Chelsea (Sunday 4.30am AEDT)
The Blues captured a strong 3-0 win over Burnley in Matchday 22 as Jorginho, Tammy Abraham and Hudson-Odoi all found the back of the net. They have now lost just one of their last five games, which came at the hands of Southampton back on the 27th of December. They currently sit in 4th place on the EPL table, and although the title is well out of their grasp, they will be desperate to keep winning in a bid to secure a spot in the Champions League next season.
It’s been a middling year for Newcastle United so far. They currently sit in 13th place on the EPL table but are just four points behind Tottenham in eighth. Newcastle’s focus could be shifted to their upcoming FA Cup game with Oxford United, which is scheduled for the 25th of January, and is their last remaining chance for a trophy this season.
Chelsea start as strong favourites here and we have to side with them given their recent form. They have lost to Newcastle United just once in their last eight matchups, and that game was played at St. James Park back in 2018. At Stamford Bridge, the Blues should be too strong.

Liverpool vs Manchester United (Monday 3.30am AEDT)
Liverpool continued their winning ways on Matchday 22 with a strong performance over Tottenham. They remain undefeated this season and sit atop the EPL table with a commanding 14 point lead over their nearest competitor. They have won their last 12 games on the trot and show no sign of slowing down.
Manchester United captured a good win over Wolverhampton on the weekend, as Jaun Mata found the back of the net in the 1-0 game at home. Manchester United will be desperate to stay on the winners list as they currently sit five points behind Chelsea, just outside of qualification for the Champions League next season.
Crazy to think that one big six club can be as short as $1.33 when playing against another big six club, but that is a sign of Liverpool’s dominance this season. Manchester United’s front three have been in terrific form this season, plundering 39 goals between them, and the Red Devils are the only team to take a point off Liverpool this season. We think they can find the back of the net against the Reds.
