Eagle Farm hosts a 10-race program on Saturday with no feature race on the card. Race 1 starts at 1:13pm (AEDT), while the last concludes at 6:08pm. The rail is out 0.5m the entirety and our selections are for a GOOD track with fine weather predicted – watch and monitor for any pattern (historically on-pace / inside lanes are advantaged).

Eagle Farm Racing Tips: Saturday, March 16th 2024
Race 3: Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation BM70 1400m - 1:48pm (AEDT)
(5) Naval Trader $2.60: looks a great bet early on the card. Very good return over 1200m when he was severely hampered at the start and lost ground before hitting the line strongly (only beaten 2.3L / DIRTY DANCING since won). He then went to this track/trip LS in BM78 grade and was well-backed (SP’d $2.90) before laying in down the straight to just miss WINSTON SMURFHILL and HELLAVADANCER. 1400m is his pet trip, he goes best on good tracks, comes down in grade to offset the rise at the weights, and maps to sit better than midfield in behind the speed. He arrives third-up so I think he’ll take improvement from his last start and be too good for them. Hard to beat.
(9) Damo Dayz $6.00 4YO gelding who returns to EF where he is unbeaten. Disappointing two runs back, but he is capable of better and can run a nice race at an each way price here. Fitter fourth up.

$2.60 (3.5 Units)
Race 5: Moree Desperates Hcp Class 6 1400M – 2:58pm (AEDT)
(1) Rainbow Connection $4.00: much better suited today after finally drawing a gate. He was forced to work early from a wide gate two starts ago before sitting OSL with 60kgs on his back, gave a nice kick on straightening (dropped the leader), but was collared in the final stages by BETCHA THE CROWN and AFRICAN DAISY (good form race). He went to Grafton LS over 1410m and was 4WNC for the majority of the race at the rear of the field (after beginning awkwardly) yet still hit the line hard to just miss TRIBECA STAR who had a much kinder run in transit. He reeled off the quickest final 200m split of the race even though he was entitled to weaken (cracking run). He meets TRIBECA STAR 2kgs worse at the weights after being beaten by him, which is a query, but if he jumps on terms today, I have him mapped in the 1-1 from barrier 4. I think he’s returned in great order this prep and is going better than the race book suggests (had genuine excuses in multiple runs). Jimmy Orman takes over from Ben Looker, he has a good record at EF, and he likes dry tracks. Good value runner.
(4) Tribeca Star $3.00: Flew home two back to narrowly miss in 72 grade behind HELLAVADANCER who has since gone on to win last week. Dropped back to C5 grade where he won nicely. Confidence boost with Maloney in the saddle and can go on with it here.
(1) Rainbow Connection
$4 (2 Units)
Race 10: Ladbrokes Communities BM78 1600m–6:08pm (AEDT)
(1) Hyde $9.50/$3.10: best each-way bet of the day! It was a sound return first-up when he ran third to BOOM TORQUE over 1350m (did his best work late / BETCHA THE CROWN and BOOM TORQUE since ran well). If we look back to last prep he did the same thing first-up before going to 1700m second-up and winning well. Similar pattern this time in as he goes straight to the mile today, so I expect him to take sharp improvement from the run. He draws a nice gate to settle better than midfield and gets in well at the weights after the claim. He has a great record second-up and he performs best on dry ground. Confident he’ll give us a sight.
(5) Winston Smurfhill $10.00/$3.00: Last start winner who was brave to lead all the way to cling on. Query is now the rise in trip to 1600m and up 2kg, but the money has poured in early. Worth thought on that alone. Draws a sticky gate and may need some luck, but will only be fitter for this run. One for the exotics.
