Champions League Matchday 6 Betting Tips
Marseille vs Tottenham
Wednesday 7am (AEDT)
Amazingly, for just the eighth time in UCL history all four of the teams in Group D are still in contention for not only but elimination heading into the final group stage round. Tottenham currently have the slightest advantage in the group, sitting on 8 points. Closely following is Sporting Lisbon and Eintracht Frankfurt on 7 points while Marseille bring up the rear on 6 points.
The tight nature of the group means it is a simple equation for the two teams facing off here. Win this game and move on to the qualification phase. A loss or draw for Tottenham could see them advance, but they will need results to go in their favour in the other game.
The Spurs have not been in fantastic form in the EPL of late, losing two of their last three games. They just edged over Bournemouth in a high scoring game on the weekend, but thankfully will have a full compliment of players to call upon for the trip to France. Tottenham won their previous Group D encounter at home 2-0, I like the odds of them to record a win on the road.
Viktoria Plzen vs Barcelona
Wednesday 7am (AEDT)
Taking a look at this game purely for betting purposes as both Plzen and Barcelona have already been eliminated from the tournament heading into the final Matchday. There is no doubt that the Czech side will be taking this game much more seriously than the Spanish juggernaut, who will likely take a ‘B’ team East to compete in this road fixture.
Already confirmed to be out with injury or rest is the likes of Busquets, Depay, Christenson, Kounde, Roberto and star striker Lewandowski. I think more first team players could follow here.
Plzen have never beaten the Spanish side in competition, maintaining a 0-0-3 record with a combined goal aggregate of 11-1. I think if they were to ever make a statement though, it would be in this game against a highly depleted Barelona side. Back the Czech outfit with the double chance here.

AC Milan vs Red Bull Salzburg
Thursday 7am (AEDT)
One of the matchups of the week, AC Milan and Red Bull Salzburg will battle it out to secure 2nd place in Group E. Chelsea are sitting pretty having all but locked up top spot in the group with 10 points, while Milan are in 2nd place with 7 points closely followed by Salzburg with 6 points.
Milan have been strong in the Serie A this season, maintaining an 8-2-2 record through the opening 12 games to sit in 3rd place on the table. They are, however, coming off a 2-1 loss on the road to 9th placed Torino on the weekend. It’s business as usual for Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga, currently sitting atop the with a 10-3-1 record.
These two sides have played three times in official competition, with AC Milan holding a strong 2-1-0 record in those three games. The draw did come earlier this season when the teams met in Austria, and these two teams looked very evenly matched on that day. Even on the road, I think $6.00 is a little disrespectful for the Austrian side here.
