Champions League 2021-22: Semi Finals Betting Tips (Leg 2)

May 3rd 2022, 10:18am, By: Ben Talintyre

The UEFA Champions League continues on Wednesday and Thursday morning, with the second leg of the semi-finals getting underway.

On Wednesday morning, Liverpool head to Villareal with a two-goal advantage, while on Thursday morning Manchester City head to the Santiago Bernabéu to face Spanish juggernauts Real Madrid.

We take a look at our best bets for each semi-final match below.

Remember, the EPL, Champions League and A-League are in full swing to be sure to head to our Soccer Tips page for regular updates and betting tips.

Champions League Semi Finals Betting Tips (Leg 2)

Liverpool vs Villarreal

Wednesday 4th May, 5.00am (AEST)

Many will believe after Liverpool’s first leg 2-0 victory, the Reds have one foot in the final already but they will face a tough test when they head to Spain for the second leg.

Villarreal have already knocked out Juventus and Real Madrid in this year's Champions League but were outclassed in the first leg against Liverpool.

The Yellow Submarine failed to register a single shot on target in the first leg but their home record has been impeccable of late. Not since November have Villarreal slumped to a defeat in front of their home crowd but it will be a tough ask to come from two goals down against Liverpool.

Liverpool have been brilliant on the road this Champions League winning all five of their Champions League away games, scoring at least two goals on each occasion.

I honestly can’t bet against the Reds here. Villarreal will have to be aggressive and that will only open them up more to Liverpool’s devastating counter attack. Since Villarreal won’t be able to be passive in this match, the Reds will have ample opportunity to put Villarreal to the sword.

Back the Reds to win once again away from home.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City

Thursday 5th May, 5.00am (AEST)

Despite being completely outplayed in the first leg, Real Madrid welcome Manchester City on Thursday morning only one goal down.

I truly believe Manchester City are by far the better team here but you would be a brave man to discount Real Madrid after their history of making big European nights their own.

Both teams are serious goal scoring threats, Manchester City with their wealth of attacking options and Real Mardid with their skillful wingers and talisman Karim Benzema in the form of his life.

The over goals market has had the value well and truly sucked out of it which is fair enough but a market now I am looking away from. I have two plays for this match, each I believe representing good value.

For what it is worth, I believe Manchester City will progress but I believe if Madrid are able to hold firm at the back, they can potentially cause the English champions massive problems in the closing minutes as City desperately try to not let another Champions League slip through their fingers. So let’s take a look at my bets below.

My best bet for this match is on the over card market. Both sides have plenty of players that could lose their heads at any moment. If this game happens to go down to the wire, we are likely to see cards for time wasting, late tackles, tactical fouls, goal celebrations and potential frustration.

I believe the asian line for over 5 card market is good value as this should be a fiery clash.
