It was a great week for Before You Bet and followers in the Champions League last week, hitting on 2/3 bets at odds of $2.70 and $2.62. The quarter finals continue this week with the return leg of all four fixtures across Wednesday and Thursday morning and as usual, we have you covered with betting tips for our favourite matchups below.
Champions League Quarter Finals Betting Tips
Paris Saint Germain vs Bayern Munich
Wednesday 5am (AEST)
The French side claimed a fantastic 3-2 win on the road in the first leg over Bayern Munich and will now be the strong favourites to advance to the semi final with the return leg back in Paris. PSG will be desperate to avenge the loss they suffered to the German side in the Champions League Final last year, and they can do so with a win, draw or even a one goal loss given Bayern score two goals or less.
That’s a lot of outs for PSG, who have allowed just 23 goals through 32 games in their domestic competition so far. What’s arguably even more telling is the fact that they have plundered 71 goals in those 32 games. You’d have to think they are scoring at least once and probably twice at home against Bayern, which just makes the job even tougher for the traveling side.
If PSG manage to score the first goal early in the game here, then Bayern will go into all out attack mode. When PSG carried a 3-0 lead into the return leg of their fixture against Bayern back in the 2017 Champions League, there were four goals scored in desperate attempts to qualify. I expect this one to play out in similar fashion.
Borussia Dortmund vs Manchester City
Thursday 5am (AEST)
Manchester City can’t do much wrong at the moment. They sit atop the EPL table by a whopping 11 points and they are yet to lose a single game throughout their Champions League campaign so far. They were 2-1 winners at home over Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their fixture and will be strong favourites to advance to the next round.
Manchester City will, however, be pretty disappointed to give up the away goal to Dortmund, which will mean just a 1-0 or 2-0 win for the German side would see them advance straight through to the semi finals. Everything is on the line for Dortmund here and to be honest, I really like their value at a whopping $4.75 to win.
Dortmund have never lost to Manchester City at home and the last time they faced in Germany, the home side were able to secure a 1-1 draw. They will be putting it all on the line here and the fact that Manchester City would be happy with a draw makes me like the Dortmund double chance market even more.
Liverpool vs Real Madrid
Thursday 5am (AEST)
Real Madrid caused an upset in the first leg of their fixture against Liverpool, winning at home as $2.70 underdogs. They will travel to Liverpool for the return leg on Thursday morning in what should be an exciting game.
The Reds will need to overcome a pretty large 3-1 deficit if they wish to advance, but the one goal they scored could be crucial as now a 2-0 win can get the job done for the English side. They’ll be most worried about Real scoring a goal early in the game, which would force the Reds to score at least 3 to qualify.
I think Liverpool win this game at home but might not advance to the next round. 3-1 is a pretty large deficit to overcome and I can see them falling just short with a 2-1 or 3-2 win. Back Liverpool to win this match.
