Caulfield Racing Tips: Wednesday, March 13th 2024
Race 1: Sportsbet Make It Look Easy Plate - 3:05pm (AEDT)
(2) Johnny Watts On deserves his chance in city grade after running very well recently in country class at Pakenham. On all recent races at that track he has lost by less than 2L while racing on pace and Caulfield can be favourable for leaders early on in the day. Barrier 4 looks ideal and I expect him to lead again. He has placed on four occasions on Dry ground and he is pretty fit after having three runs so far in this campaign. It's Johnny’s biggest test yet but his form is hard to fault.
(10) Kobaybi settled handy and ran third on debut at Ballarat. He should improve from that effort and he can Place again at odds.
(1) Brier has drawn very wide in 11 and Hefel will have a decision to make whether to go forward or back. He has been freshened up and he did almost break his maiden at Yarra Glen. He has been racing just behind the leaders of late which is going to be hard to do from this barrier.

Race 5: Sportsbet Jockey Watch Handicap - 5:25pm (AEDT)
(6) Links ran on quite well for 2nd at Hillside last start and with Allen on again, he should put in a forward showing against a similar field. He remains at the 1200m and with his second go at it, and the 2.5kg drop in weight should aid his chances. Allen usually settles him around midfield and from barrier 5 should be able to do so again.
(1) Intrepid Eagle gets a 3kg claim for Kennedy which will help and he should improve after seeing this track for the second occasion. He got too far back here last time and may settle closer.
(4) Graysong is another who got too far back last time in Adelaide and Melham will not make the same mistake here. He is a key on for the stable and they will be wanting improvement third up.
(6) Links
$4.80 (2 Units)
Race 7: Tile Importer Handicap - 6:30pm (AEDT)
(7) Flying On A Limb is first up here but has won first up before. She settles midfield and she should appreciate this class after racing against the likes of Viviane and Katsu last prep. She is 3 from 3 over the distance and she does handle Caulfield which helps. Melham has raced on top before and has won on her and he should know when to strike the whip. The Dry track is a slight query as she has never placed on it but the dropping of class is the main decision of the tick here.
(4) Sirene Stryker is another who drops in grade and will be fitter now being third up. The mare comes into this after a Tasmanian campaign where she seemed to get too far back in her races.
(1) Epic Centre has drawn to lead gain from barrier 2. He led and won at The Valley last time and if he can go forward and get cheap sectionals, he could win again.
