We return to Caulfield for Saturday racing in Victoria this week for Memsie Stakes Day (Group 1) with gallopers competing over 1400m. The track should stay a Good 4 and the first of 10 gets us underway at 12:05pm. With no AFL on this weekend, the meeting should get plenty of interest from punters!

Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday, September 2nd 2023
Race 1: MRC Foundation Caulfield Handicap - 12:05pm (AEST)
(2) Aspen Colorado needs to start better this time and if he does, he can win this for Lindsey Smith and Celien Gaudray. He is a very hit horse now and despite not winning much of late, he is on a surface that he will enjoy and a distance he is proven on.
(4) Red Phantom is at good odds here and has had a month off in between runs. First time on the Good but did handle the Synthetic.
(5) Boh Rhap is going for four on end and he has drawn well in 2. Has to be in the multiples.
(6) Eye Of The Eagle likes Good tracks and should get a settled run from midfield. Will be in the mix with 100m to go.
(2) Aspen Colorado - WIN
$5.50 (1 Unit)
Race 2: Changing Places Real Estate Handicap - 12:35pm (AEST)
(2) Chorlton Lane has drawn well in 3 and has Zahra on who is riding the gelding for the first time. He will likely settle in the back half of the field as he is not the quickest out of the machine but he ran on well at Rosehill to score last time and he can do it again here. 2 wins from 3 starts over this distance.
(14) Rhienberg won well for BYB followers 2 weeks ago and steps up to Saturday grade here. He will settle up handy and should be in the top 3. Might be a bit short in the market though for mine (3-1).
(16) Presser was only beaten half a length at Flemington last time when fav. Sees Caulfield for the first time here. Chance.
(13) Maktoob was scratched on Wednesday at Sandown in reference for this race.
(2) Chorlton Lane - WIN
$3.50 (2 Units)
Race 3: Fierce Impact - Pedigree Physique Performance - 1:10pm (AEST)
(2) Belle Et Riche ran on well behind Maximillus at The Valley a fortnight ago and has trialed up since on the Heavy which will have given her more fitness. She loves this distance and Jordan Childs has won on her 3 times already.
(4) Beour Bay got up by a nose last time and has drawn inside here. If the rails is on he could pinch this.
(7) Extreme Step likes Dry tracks and has won on 3 occasions for Michael Dee.
(8) Nunthorpe is the likely fav but barrier 10 is a slight worry. 2nd up form is good though.
(2) Belle Et Riche - WIN
$3.60 (2 Units)
Race 4: Evergreen Turf Handicap - 1:45pm (AEST)
(12) Chandon Burj gets a drop of 2kg in weight which she may appreciate here. She's a settle back type and with that weight release it might help her run on in the concluding stages. She sees Caulfield for the second time which should help after running 2 close up 4ths in recent weeks at The Valley.
(13) Pitchanun has drawn well in 2 and was beaten less than a length at Flemington last start. Has placed 3 times from 5 starts at Caulfield.
(8) Garachico was fair at Flemington after getting a long way back (6th) and has got more fitness after a recent trial.
(2) Court Deep is very consistent and will be at good odds in this. Probably a little hard though.
(12) Chandon Burj - WIN
$9 (1 Unit)
Race 5: Ive McNeil Stakes (Group 3) - 2:20pm (AEST)
* SCRATCHED* (2) Barber is first up and won on both occasions when first up previously. Despite being unplaced over this distance to date, he gets a Good track here which is the key and Blake Shinn should be able to get some cover from barrier 6. Barber has had 3 trials leading into this so will be fit enough to win.
(1) Little Brose was only beaten 1.3L last start in the Vain Stakes (Group 3) and should improve again with more fitness on his side.
(3) Veight bolted in at his first start but this is his toughest test. He has drawn well though in 2.
(7) Coincide can lead in his races and he has won twice from 4 attempts on Good ground.
Race 6: The Importer Heatherlie Stakes - 2:55pm (AEST)
(8) Uncle Bryn has drawn wide in 16 for Mark Zahra but I’ll stick with him on the back of him loving a Good track which he gets here. He will likely get back in the run and despite having not placed in his last 3 starts, he is a quality horse. He is one from one over the distance and he has handled himself well in Listed company previously so the grade of the race is of no concern.
(15) Jimmy The Bear is another who loves Good tracks and he did win well at this track last start over the mile.
(16) The Summit has drawn the inside and might get a comfortable run from the draw. Probably needs some rain which hinders his winning chances.
(10) Daqiansweet Junior is early in his Melbourne Cup prep and will need another couple of runs before he gets serious. A 4th or 5th placing here is probably the aim.
(8) Uncle Bryn - WIN
$9 (1 Unit)
Race 7: Tobin Brothers Cockram Stakes (Group 3) - 3:35pm (AEST)
(11) All About Eve is over the odds here and she is worth a small play I reckon. She has been running home very well in her races and although this is harder, if they go hard up front she will be one of the best finishers in the race. She has placed here before and barrier 8 should suit.
(7) Benedetta was superior when winning first up and she has won a Mornington trial since. Clearly the one to beat but she is short in the market.
(2) Parisal gets Jamie Kah on after her break and she is 3 from 3 on the Good surfaces. Wide barrier (11) is a slight concern.
(3) Papillon Club is very consistent and has placed in all starts on Dry ground. First try here.
(11) All About Eve - WIN
$46 (0.5 Units)
Race 8: The McCafe 1100m Stake (Group 3) - 4:15pm (AEST)
(7) Generation will likely sit around 3rd or 4th the inside in this one which should give him a comfortable run in the race. He loves Caulfield and can handle the Group racing. Goes well fresh and Zahra will be looking for his first win on him after riding placings on him previously.
(13) Magic Time has drawn a bit wide in 12 and will need a good steer from Childs. Has won 3 time for him though.
(2) Kallos won a Randwick trial last week and does go well fresh. Has won 3 times over the 1100m.
(6) Asfoora likes Caulfield and goes well fresh but just want to see her go around this time. Will start fav which I think is under the odds.
(7) Generation - WIN
$7.50 (1 Unit)
Race 9: Stow Storage Memsie Stakes - 4:50pm (AEST)
(5) Aegon was excellent first up when he stormed home from near last at this track in the Lawrence Stakes (3rd). He has a great record over this distance and his second up form is very solid. Barrier 13 is probably okay as he will get back anyway. Might be a bit fitter than the majority too. A little sprinkle of rain on race morning won't hurt either.
(2) I wish I win resumes and will go well. Barrier 1, well I’m not sure if that’s a positive for this horse as he will need luck in the straight. Has won here before and will have the money of plenty.
(3) Alligator Blood will be on pace as usual but can he hang on over the concluding stages? He has won 12 races on Good ground but barrier 14 makes it hard.
(1) Mr. Brightside will need a Willow special from barrier 15. Hard assignment from out there I reckon but is one of the best horses in the country and does come into this after winning the Lawrence. Favourite.
(5) Aegon - WIN
$13 (1 Unit)
Race 10: NEDS Super Saturday Handicap - 5:25pm (AEST)
(8) Regardsmaree has won 6 times from 22 starts over this distance and she goes pretty well here. When 4th at The Valley last week she was a bit unlucky and Bill Egan knows her pretty well now and should put her in the right spot.
(7) Kalino was solid when 5th at Randwick last start and is expected to run top 3 here. Waller presents and he has drawn pretty well in 8.
(1) Here To Shock is 1 from 1 here and was backed in last start when 8th. Has won a trial since that effort.
(2) Beltoro likes the Dry and is one at big odds. Is resuming and has won first up before.
(8) Regardsmaree - WIN
$10 (1 Unit)
