Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday July 13th 2024

July 12th 2024, 4:04pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Caulfield Racing Tips

Caulfield will host a nine-race program on what will be another chilly Saturday afternoon in Melbourne. But that won’t stop connections preparing their horses which will likely be running on a Soft 7 surface during the afternoon. We have a tip in the first of the day which starts at 12:05pm (AEST), while the last of nine concludes the day at 4:48pm (AEST). The Sir John Monash Stakes is the feature which takes place at a quarter past four (AEST).

Check out Brendan Bunworth’s best bets for Caulfield below, and be sure to head over to our Racing Tipspage for more free tips from around the country this weekend!

Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday July 13th 2024

Race 1: Sportsbet Photo Finish Refund Handicap - 12:05pm (AEST)

(2) Enna’s Dream is a run-on type who has a very big finish on her. She steps up to the 1400m for the first time and a Soft7 would be ideal. At this track on June 29 she stormed home to be 2nd beaten a head and the rise in trip here will see her get extra time to catch them. Leading jockey Damien Lane is on for the first time and his experience will help because she will get back from the inside draw and will need a smart ride.

(1) Miss Roumbini won well on a Soft7 a fortnight ago at this track and should go well again. She does need to carry 5kg more though.

(3) Into You may be better on a dryer track and more distance but was only beaten in a Group1 race at Morphettville last prep. Down in class but likely wants the mile.

(2) Enna’s Dream

$2.20 (3 Units)

Race 8: Sportsbet Sir John Monash Stakes - 4:15pm (AEST)

(2) Recommendation has missed out his latest two starts but is a quality horse. He is first up here and has never missed a top 3 finish when fresh. Shinn is on for the first time and with the sting out of the track here, he should be running top 2. In January he was beaten by Group 1 winner Veight at The Valley and Veight would punish these. He’s won at the trip and from barrier 6 he should get a lovely run.

(1) Ashford Street likes Caulfield and likes wet tracks so will want more rain. Gets Lane for the first time which is a plus. Has won 10 career races from 37 starts so knows where the winning post is.

(5) Mrs Chrissie is the stablemate to Recommendation and will settle up there and is sure to run well again after just being beaten by Kin last start. Has won 3 from 8 starts over the 1100m and is 100 percent fit.

(2) Recommendation

$3.20 (2 Units)

Race 9: Sportsbet Race Replays Handicap - 4:48pm (AEST)

* SCRATCHED* (6) Chorlton Lane gets the inside barrier here which will assist but he was disappointing when fav last start if we’re honest. He gets another chance as he did have a lot of late money punted on him in the last race on June 29. He has no real form on damp tracks so that’s an unknown but he has won trials on Soft tracks. He won 2 in a row during Autumn and he will be running on late. Will need luck and we will want $4 fixed odds to play.

(4) Rheinberg won well again a fortnight ago in the same race as Chorlton Lane. He has won 2 from 3 on the Soft and will settle a couple of lengths in front of Chorlton Lane.

(10) Lafargue drops 6kg after being beaten less than a length at Flemington last start (5th). He will settle midfield so will look winning chance at some stage and it doesn’t matter if the track is upgraded (unlikely). He was a big drifter last time so may be just a Place chance here. Tatum Bull takes the steer for the first time.

(6) Chorlton Lane
