Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday, December 2nd
Race 3: Whispering Angel Handicap - 1:10pm (AEDT)
(12) Fire Glo Too had no luck last week when 4th at Cranbourne after Craig Williams was stuck looking for runs in the home straight. Before that he looked to be traveling nicely and Michael Dee will take the ride this time. He will get back again and with a nice cart into the race from the 400m, he will be one of the best finishers.
(11) Cadmus steps up in class but has won 3 times on Good surfaces. From barrier 5 he might get the gun run for Mertens.
(8) Caboche has drawn wide in 13 and runs his best races on Dry ground. Needs luck though.
(5) Pesto has won at Caulfield before and barrier 1 may assist if the rails are on.
(12) Fire Glo Too - Win
$5 (3 Units)
Race 6: Kevin Heffernen Stakes Group 3 - 3pm (AEDT)
(2) Vilana despite not placing in the last 2 starts is the one to beat and he gets the services of Kah for the first time which is a plus. She goes better on Soft tracks so will want that rain to come on Friday but if it doesn’t she still looks well suited. She has won 7 from 18 starts and this is one of the easier races that she has raced in.
(1) The Inferno is the one I am going to have a small bet on however (Place) because he is quality and has won on 8 occasions on the Good. We will have to watch track conditions though as they have been changing a lot this week at Victoria race meetings. The Inferno had no luck last time when 11th and will be one of the strongest finishers in this race.
(3) King Magnus was only 1.7L behind the winner in the Group 2 Damien Oliver last start and has trialed since. Goes well when second up.
(4) Crosshaven got too far back last start and has raced in a lot of hard races in his career. Track conditions suit.
(1) The Inferno - Place
$1.90 (4 Units)
Race 8: Whispering Angel Zipping Classic Group 2 - 4:20pm (AEDT)
(7) Duke De Sessa settled just better than midfield in the Group 3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes and stuck on quite nicely, passing a few late to run 3rd. His Caulfield form isn’t that good but the stable believes he is at 100 percent for this and with a similar run like last time, he should be hitting the line with full force. He hasn’t won in more than a year but gets Zahra on here and he has had a very good few months. Duke De Sessa was solid in the Caulfield Cup running 9th after getting too far back.
(5) Bankers Choice drops 3kg for this race after having no luck in the Country Cup at this track last start. First try at the distance but the way he has been finishing suggests he should get it.
(9) Shock ‘Em Ova will want it to remain Dry and he too will hit the line well. Willow has had 4 rides on top for 2 wins and 2 seconds.
(1) Vow and Declare has had an excellent Spring and he has won over the track & distance before. Egan stays on and he may settle closer here.
(7) Duke De Sessa - Win
$4.80 (2 Units)
Race 10: Premier Signs Doveton Stakes - 5:40pm (AEDT)
(5) Gravina is down in class for this race and though he has been racing poorly really, I am hoping barrier 1 gives him an advantage here and he gets a late split. He loves the distance and he is 1 from 1 over the track & distance. Dee goes on for the first time and Gravina won’t mind if the track gets downgraded to Soft. He hasn’t won in a long time but at the odds he is worth a throw at the stumps.
(4) Showmanship is 5 from 5 on Good tracks. He is first up here after a recent trial and he flies first up. Another over the odds.
(2) Jigsaw will go forward from barrier 4 and he has been freshened for this. Was 5th in the Manikato and obviously this is easier.
(1) Lauda Sion won a jumpout last week after coming over from Tokyo. Interesting runner who has Lane on.
(5) Gravina - E/W
$14/$4 (1 Unit).
