Caulfield will host three listed races on its 10-race program on Saturday as Victorian owners and breeders are recognized as part of the Victorian Owners and Breeders Scheme. The VOBIS Platinum Showdown, The Vobis Sprint and the Vobis Dash are the highlights on a track which will be around a Soft 5.

Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday, April 27th 2024
Race 3: Sheen Panel Service VOBIS Gold Mile - 12:55pm (AEST)
(4) Chartres is a hard horse to catch but he normally races pretty honestly, however without winning much. We get goods here though to have a play which has enticed me. He gets barrier 1 which should give him a chance of a good midfield run, unlike he got at Bendigo last start (8th) where he had no luck at all. He goes good second up and he has won twice on the Soft.
(1) Pounding is the deserving favourite but does have to carry 60kg now. He is fitter but has won when second up before (6 attempts). Moody & Coleman combine with Nolen again and they are a winning combo.
(3) Barbie’s Fox likes Caulfield and has raced in harder races than this previously. He is hard to catch but will be running on. Returns from a 10th in a Group 1. (Queen Of The Turf) and despite not placing in her last five, she can run a drum at odds.
(4) Chartres E/W
$14/$3.40 (0.5 Units)
Race 4: VOBIS Blue Gum Farm - 1:30pm (AEST)
(2) Papillon Club was good first up when placing but then just plain last start (8th). I think she can return to form here at a distance he enjoys and he will be running on late. She is at close to full fitness over those two runs and barrier 6 should see her settle midfield. Cartwright takes the ride for the first time she has won and place on a Soft track previously. An Each-Way play is probably the go as she does need to pass half a dozen horses to feature on most occasions.
(4) Extratwo has barrier 1 so it will be interesting to see whether she settles closer in this one. She settled 4th last start and almost got there and before that she won well after being 4th on the home turn.
(1) Megamea is fit, consistent, and gets back to a trip that she enjoys (3 wins from 16 starts). Does have to carry 59kg which is of slight concern.
(2) Papillon Club E/W
$6.50/$2.30 (1 Unit)
Race 5: Avenal Equine Hospital VOBIS Good Health - 2:05pm (AEST)
(4) Berkley Square is back in grade here and is due to salute. Last start in the Easter Cup he closed well to run 5th and this is easier. A Soft surface is his best surface and his extra fitness should help in the concluding stages here. He doesn’t want to settle to close and a midfield position will be ideal. He hasn’t won in a long time but he still does have a very good winning strike rate (4 from 16).
(6) Regal Amazon won on a Soft 5 at Caulfield last start and may get the same conditions here. He might settled just behind Berkley Square and will be strong to the line.
(10) Tycoon Bec will be good odds and up on speed. If she can pinch cheap sectionals, then she can place.
(4) Berkeley Square
$2.60 (3 Units)
