Sunday afternoon footy kicks off at Suncorp Stadium, with the 5th placed Broncos hosting the 16th placed Titans. The Broncos welcome back Reece Walsh for their round 12 clash, in a Queensland derby that could be far more competitive than many are predicting.

Brisbane Broncos vs Gold Coast Titans
Suncorp Stadium, Sunday 26th May, 2:00pm (AEST)
Last Week
The Broncos looked like they were going to destroy the Sea Eagles last Friday night, blasting out of the gates with two quick tries to lead 12-0 after just 13 minutes. All of a sudden though, the Broncos took their foot of the gas, not scoring another point until the 76th minute, when Jock Madden slotted a field goal to secure the win for the Broncos, 13-12. It was a concerning performance from the Broncos, however, will more than likely be put down to missing both Adam Reynolds and Reece Walsh. Patrick Carrigan was a beast in the middle, running for 265 metres and making 33 tackles. With Walsh due back this week, the Broncos attack should look better.
The Titans meanwhile went down 28-24 to the Knights, in an incredibly competitive matchup. It marked the sixth game in a row decided by single digits involving the Titans, who have been a far more competitive team in the past 6 weeks. It was a great effort from the Titans, given their makeshift halves pairing, and showed the resolve that coach Des Hasler has the playing group displaying lately.
Match Preview
The Broncos and Titans met twice last season, with the teams splitting the results as both away teams managed to win. In round 7, the Broncos arrived at Cbus Super Stadium as 9.5-point favourites, with a total of 45.5. After a solid first half from the Titans (leading 14-10), the Broncos came out firing in the second half, scoring four unanswered tries to run out 43-26 winners. The Titans got their revenge in round 17 at Suncorp Stadium, recording a solid 18-12 win as 12.5-point underdogs, as the total closed 48.5.
As for this game, the Broncos opened 13.5-point favourites prior to last weekend’s results, before re-opening as 12.5-point favourites on Monday morning. With the confirmation of the return of Reece Walsh, the Broncos have once again pushed up to 13.5-point favourites, and I’m predicting the number to close 14.5.
As for the total, it’s bumped up to 49.5 from 48.5. I make a fair total 46.5, so there is a small amount of value in the under here, but not enough to get involved.
Whilst I don’t see a great deal of value in either market here, I will lean towards the Broncos covering the spread. Whilst the Titans are showing great resolve over the past six weeks, their spine just doesn’t have the points in it against a solid Broncos defence to get close in this one. With Walsh back, I like the Broncos to cover the spread, and a win by 13+ seems the play.

Same Game Multi
D Mariner (1+ try) – Mariner continues to score weekly and is almost an automatic add to any multi you have.
S Cobbo (1+ try) – Cobbo will want to show out right before Origin, and I expect him to cross the line here for the Broncos.
A Khan-Pereira (1+ try) – AKP continues to be a try scoring machine for the Titans, and his record against the Broncos is solid.
