BBL12 Scorchers vs Thunder Betting Tips
Perth Stadium, Wednesday 4th January, 9.15pm (AEDT)
Perth Scorchers
Death, taxes and the Scorchers being at the top of the BBL table. It’s what we have come to expect from the most dominant side in BBL history and this season is proving to be no different. After a shaky start which saw them lose their 2nd game to the Hobart Hurricanes, Perth have gone on to win their next four in a row, all pretty dominant performances, three of them coming on the road.
Predicted XI: Faf du Plessis, Adam Lyth, Cameron Bancroft, Josh Inglis, Ashton Turner, Aaron Hardie, Nick Hobson, Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye, Jason Behrendorff, Peter Hatzoglou
The Scorchers have had absences through injury and international duty this season but they just manage to get the job done consistently. They are without Lance Morris and Ashton Agar due to Australian duty at the moment, while Mitch Marsh remains on the sidelines with a broken leg.
Sydney Thunder
Since losing three games in a row to fall to 1-3 on the season, the Thunder have bounce back in brilliant fashion, winning their last four games on the trot to move into 2nd place on the BBL table. Alex Hales has been particularly impressive, smashing 245 runs at 40.83 to lead the league.
Predicted XI: Matthew Gilkes, Alex Hales, Rilee Rossouw, Oliver Davies, Daniel Same, Alex Ross, Ben Cutting, Nathan McAndrew, Chris Green, Brendan Doggett, Usman Qadir
The Thunder haven’t had a lot of changes in their squad throughout the season so far, which will no doubt do wonders for their consistency. Their batting line-up looks in great touch at the moment, with Gilkes, Hales, and Davies all finding
Match Prediction
Hard to look past the Scorchers back on the home deck here. They have lost just one of their last 16 games at Perth Stadium spanning back to 2020. It’s arguably the safest bet in the Big Bash League and the fact that you can still get around $1.70 on any given night for them is appealing.
Same Game Multi
Building my multi around the Scorchers to go well here, kicking off with Jhye Richardson to take 2+ wickets. The paceman has been arguably the pick of the bowlers in BBL12 so far, taking 12 wickets at a ridiculous economy rate of just 5.80, far and away the best rate of any of the top 20 wicket takers.
Combining that with the pair of Cameron Bancroft and Josh Inglis to score 10+ runs each. Josh Inglis has scored at least 10 runs in all six of his BBL12 innings so far while Cameron Bancroft played his first innings against the Gades on Sunday, scoring 46 off 32.
Richardson 2+ Wickets
Bancroft 10+ Runs
Inglis 10+ Runs
