BBL11 Thunder vs Renegades Betting Tips
MCG, Wednesday 19th January, 4.10pm (AEDT)
Sydney Thunder
Predicted XI: Matt Gilkes, Alex Hales, Usman Khawaja, Jason Sangha, Daniel Sams, Oliver Davies, Ben Cutting, Chris Green, Gurinder Sandhu, Tanveer Sangha, Muhammad Hasnain
Thunder captain Usman Khawaja will rejoin the squad for the final game of the regular season as well as finals, and what an inclusion it is on paper to a batting line-up that was already one of the most dynamic in the league. Alex Hales, Matt Gilkes and Jason Sangha have been in great touch and the revelation of Daniel Sams up the order has been a stroke of genius.
The Thunder have arguably as many match-winners of any team in the league and although they went down to the Sixers in the last game, they’ll back themselves to win on any given night with this line-up. If currently sit tied on points with their cross town rivals and both teams will play on Wednesday, fighting out for the all important top two spot on the table.
Melbourne Renegades
Predicted XI: James Seymour, Aaron Finch, Shaun Marsh, Unmukt Chand, Jonathan Merlo, Sam Harper, Will Sutherland, Cameron Boyce, Zak Evans, Josh Labor, Zahir Khan
The Renegades will close the book on a pretty ordinary season on Wednesday night. They sit at the bottom of the BBL table with just three wins from 14 games but can potentially salvage some pride and leapfrog the Brisbane Heat with a win, or even a single bash boost point against the Thunder.
They have a host of key players in the likes of Nic Maddinson, Kane Richardson, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Mackenzie Harvey out of the line-up but there were some positive signs from the replacements in the likes of James Seymour and Zak Evans in the loss to the Hurricanes on Tuesday night.
Match Preview
How could the Thunder possibly lose this one. The Renegades allowed the Hurricanes to score 182 on Tuesday night and then they looked in the absolute box seat three quarters into their batting innings. They went onto bottle it as they have so many times this season, losing by six runs to remain at the bottom of the table.
At the moment, they just rely too heavily on a couple of star players whereas the Thunder have a team full of match-winners. They will be boosted by the inclusion of Khawaja and will be going all out to win this one in an attempt to secure a top two spot.
Same Game Multi
