BBL11 Strikers vs Stars Betting Tips
Adelaide Oval, Saturday 15th January, 10.40am (AEDT)
Adelaide Strikers
Predicted XI: Matt Short, Henry Hunt, Ian Cockbain, Jonathan Wells, Jake Weatherald, Thomas Kelly, Harry Neilson, Henry Thornton, Peter Siddle, Harry Conway, Fawad Ahmed
The Strikers got a much needed win on Friday as they downed the Scorchers in a shock upset. Bowling first, they kept their opponents to just 127 off their 20 overs before chasing the total down four wickets down with three full overs to spare.
Rashid Khan has departed for international duty, but Fawad Ahmed stepped up in his absence against the Scorchers, taking 3/30 off his four overs to be named player of the match. With back to back wins, the Strikers have now climbed to 5th on the BBL table with a 4-8 record.
Melbourne Stars
Predicted XI: Marcus Stoinis, Joe Clarke, Glenn Maxwell, Beau Webster, Joe Burns, Hilton Cartwright, Nick Larkin, Sam Rainbird, Brody Couch, Adam Zampa, Sam Elliot
Predicting the Stars XI is a bit of a tough test at the moment. Both Marcus Stoinis should return to the side after being named in the 16 man squad but Nathan Coulter-Nile remains on the sidelines with injury. The Stars also lose both Qais Ahmed and Harris Rauf for the rest of the series, as the pair have other cricketing duties to attend to.
In their place, the Stars have named a pair of Pakistani recruits in Ahmad Daniel and Syed Faridoun in the 16 man squad after both made their debuts earlier in the season. Whether one or both of them play is the real question. the Stars recorded a comfortable win over the Renegades on Thursday to keep their finals chances alive. A win here would see them leapfrog the Strikers and jump into the top five.
Match Prediction
Tough game to call here between two sides that are in pretty good form. Between them, they have won five of their last seven games and seem to have ridden the COVID hump and are now one of the few teams safely on the other side.
The Stars start as favourites on the road and I’m siding with them here. They lose a few key bowlers but Stoinis coming back into he side gives them a really dangerous batting line-up with three genuine match winners with the bat alongside Maxwell and Joe Clarke.
Although the Strikers got the win on Friday morning against the Scorchers, I’m a little concerned about the potency of their bowling attack without Rashid Khan. I think the Stars take advantage of that and get the win.
Same Game Multi
The Stars have scored 145+ in 7/10 games when they have had the opportunity to this season, and against the weakened Strikers bowling lineup, I think they do so again on a decent batting wicket in Adelaide.
Joe Clarke scored just 14 runs in his first four innings this season but has since racked up scores of 52, 85, 52, 83, 17 and 10. He has passed 10 runs in 70% of his games, back him to do so again here.
As always, the third leg of our multi will be the first wicket of the game to be caught. This bet has saluted in over 80% of games this BBL season and still offers $1.36 odds in the same game multi markets.
