It’s been a cracking start to the Big Bash season with some monster scores mixed in with some deadeye bowling performances. Once again this year it’s been a pretty even start across the competition with most teams looking competitive.
Saturday night will see the Sydney Sixers taking on the Hobart Hurricanes who will be out for instant revenge following a devastating loss to the men in magenta on Wednesday night.
BBL11 Sixers vs Hurricanes Betting Tips
SCG, Saturday 11th December, 6.35pm (AEDT)
Sydney Sixers
Squad: Sean Abbott, Jackson Bird, Dan Christian, Tom Curran, Ben Dwarshuis, Jack Edwards, Mickey Edwards, Moises Henriques (c), Daniel Hughes, Hayden Kerr, Nathan Lyon, Ben Manenti, Josh Philippe, Lloyd Pope, Jordan Silk, James Vince, Steve O'Keefe, Chris Jordan
The Sixers come into tonight’s match in red-hot form, winning their opening two matches of the season to put themselves at the top of the BBL11 ladder. They were obviously extremely impressive in the opening game of the season and backed that up with a gritty win against Hobart the other night. They never really looked like winning there but dug deep to prevail in a tight one.
The Sixers have set the early standard as the team to beat and skipper Moises Henriques has led from the front showing some blistering form with the bat. They’ll fancy their chances once again facing a Hurricanes side who will still be hurting from the loss the other night. While on paper the Sixers might not have the sort of star-power that some other sides have, but they all play with heart and pitch in where needed.
I think they’ll be pretty hard to beat again tonight.
Hobart Hurricanes
Squad: Scott Boland, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Peter Handscomb, Ben McDermott, Riley Meredith, Mitch Owen, Wil Parker, D'Arcy Short, Matthew Wade (c), Mac Wright, Sandeep Lamichhane, Caleb Jewell, Joel Paris, Harry Brook, Josh Kann, Tom Rogers, Jordan Thompson
As mentioned, the Hurricanes somehow managed to lose to the Sixers the on Wednesday Night after being completely on top for most of the match. Unfortunately for the ‘canes their lower-order batsmen really let them down with a late collapse but they can take plenty of positives out of the match. Their bowling was impressive, restricting the Sixers to just 144. They’ll be looking to do something similar again here and you’d expect their middle-order to stand up and want to make up for the performance the other night.
The Hurricanes have some proper firepower at the top of the order with Short, Wade and Handscomb who all contributed in their season opener. That could be good signs for what’s to come this season and they’ll just need a few others to chip in and steady the ship throughout the innings.
The young pace trio of Paris, Ellis and Rogers were instrumental in restricting the Sixers on Wednesday night and they’ll be looking to continue their strong start with the ball in hand.
Match Prediction
Expecting the Sixers to come out firing again here tonight and they will be brimming with confidence after two very impressive wins to start their season. Their bowlers have been extremely good, giving opposition batsmen little room for error while Moises Henriques and Josh Philippe have been dominant with bat in hand.
No doubt the Hurricanes will have their fans and showed on Wednesday night that they’ll be a competitive team throughout this season. I just think the Sixers might be able to perform more consistently across the board tonight with more experienced heads within their side.
