The Melbourne Stars will take on the Perth Scorchers from GMHBA Stadium in the first of the Tuesday double header in BBL11. As always, Mr. Cricket has you covered with his full preview and betting tips for the clash below.
BBL11 Scorchers vs Stars Betting Tips
GMHBA Stadium, Tuesday 11th January, 2.10pm (AEDT)
Perth Scorchers
Predicted XI: Kurtis Patterson, Cameron Bancroft, Laurie Evans, Ashton Turner, Aaron Hardie, Andrew Tye, Matthew Kelly, Jason Behrendorff, Peter Hatzoglou, Lance Morris
Scorchers stars Josh Inglis and Mitch Marsh were released from Test squad duties at the conclusion of the SCG Test, but it’s unlikely that they will be back in Melbourne in time for the Tuesday clash. Colin Munro will also still be on the sidelines as he completes his COVID isolation, however, the Scorchers could get back Jason Behrendorff back to add some depth to the pace stocks.
The absence of players didn’t really affect them much in their last game, as the Scorchers were too good for 2nd placed Sydney Sixers, winning shorthanded by five wickets to remain atop the ladder. Stand in skipper Ashton Turner was sensational in the win, smashing 69 of just 41 balls to guide his team home.
Melourne Stars
Predicted XI: Joe Clarke, Clint Hinchliffe, Nick Larkin, Joe Burns, Hilton Cartwright, Beau Webster, Xavier Crone, Qais Ahmad, Adam Zampa, Haris Rauf, Brody Couch
Not as many as we originally predicted actually made their return for the Stars on Sunday night against the Strikers. Marcus Stoinis and Nathan Coulter-Nile both remained on the sidelines with niggles after their 10 day quarantine, but given the uncertainty surrounding them, we could see one or both make their return to the line-up on Tuesday afternoon, Stoinis being the more likely of the two. The Stars kept the Strikers to just 139 in their Monday night game and after a shaky start with the bat, Englishman Joe Clarke compiled a brilliant 83 to guide his team home. The win keeps their season alive and with the likes of Maxwell, Stoinis, Coulter-Nile and Tom Rogers still to come back into the side, if the Stars can sneak into the finals they have the potential to do some real damage.
Match Prediction
It’s almost a must win for the Stars but it’s hard to bet against this Perth Scorchers team in any capacity at the moment. They’ve shown over the last few games that they have the best depth in the league, getting the job done without some of their most important players in the likes of Inglis, Marsh, Munro and Behrendorff.
The Stars will be tired as they suit up for their second game in under 24 hours, I think the Scorchers are the play here and a win for a resurgent Stars side on Monday night has added a little extra value for Perth bettors here.

Joe Clarke started the season in really slow fashion but since the fourth game, he has arguably been the most consistent batsman for the Stars. After scoring just 14 runs in his first four BBL innings, he has since compiled four scores of 50+ in a row, finishing off with a match winning 83 on Monday night. Back him to go well again on Tuesday.
We are combining the Clarke leg with the first wicket of the match to be caught. This bet has now saluted in over 80% of the games this BBL season and still offers great value in the SGM markets.
