There is just two nights to go in the #BBL11 season! Tuesday night will see the Hobart Hurricanes squaring off against the Melbourne Renegades at Marvel Stadium from 7.15pm.
As always, Mr. Cricket has you covered with his full preview and betting tips for the clash below.
BBL11 Hurricanes vs Renegades Betting TIps
Marvel Stadium, Tuesday 18th January, 7.15pm (AEDT)
Hobart Hurricanes
Predicted XI: Caleb Jewell, Ben McDermott, Matthew Wade, D’Arcy Short, Peter Handscomb, Tim David, Jordan Thompson, Josh Kann, Thomas Rogers, Riley Meredith, Sandeep Lamichhane
After losing three of their last four, the Hurricanes recorded a much needed win over the Sydney Thunder on Thursday night to hold onto their spot in the top five by a bare margin. They are the only remaining team in the league with two games to play as they face the Renegades on Monday before battling the Stars on Tuesday night.
They currently sit two points above the Stars, so if the Canes lose on Monday night, the Tuesday game against the Stars could end up being a loser goes home match.
The Canes have some big selection questions to ponder over their last two games and leading into finals. Their bowlers were impressive in the win over the Thunder on Thursday night but they could get a massive injection of talent into the line-up in one of the next few games with Josh Kann, Nathan Ellis, Joel Paris all nearing full fitness. Scott Boland is also done with the Ashes and could come back into the side for finals.
Melbourne Renegades
Predicted XI: Sam Harper, Shaun Marsh, Aaron Finch, James Seymour, Unmukt Chand, Jono Merlo, Jack Prestwidge, Will Sutherland, Cameron Boyce, Josh Labor, Zahir Khan
It’s a bit tough to predict how the Renegades will line-up on Tuesday night given the large number of unavailabilities they have suffered over the last few days. Young guns Mackenzie Harvey and Jake Fraser-McGurk have both returned positive COVID test, so they will miss the Gades last game of the season. Kane Richardson and skipper Nic Maddinson are also out through personal reasons and injury respectively.
James Seymour will likely be inserted back into the squad, while Unmukt Chand might finally get his long awaited BBL debut. Either way, it looks like a pretty 2nd rate side the Gades are going to trot out for what will be a dead rubber for the last team on the table.
Match Prediction
Tough to bet against the Canes here with so much on the line. If they win this game, they will lock in a place in the BBL11 finals and eliminate their Tuesday night opponents in the Stars at the same time. They have battled injury throughout the season but their dynamic batting line-up is all back in the side at the moment, and the likes of Ben McDermott and Matthew Wade are in some special form.
The Canes are strong $1.47 favourites so there is not a lot of value on the straight up win. However, if they bat first, I love adding them to score 160+ to add some value. They batted first against the Gades when they played on the 29th of December and scored 206 with Ben McDermott smashing 126 off just 65 balls.
Batting 1st: Add 160+ Runs ($2.40)
Same Game Multi
I’m happy to include the Canes to win in my same game multi for Tuesday night. I just think there is no way they lose this game with the amount they have on the line combined with the players that will be missing for the Gades.
Leg 2 will be Ben McDermott to score 20+ runs. He has scored 10+ runs in eight of his 10 innings this season and over the course of his career, he has scored more runs against the Renegades than any other opponent, smashing 543 runs in nine games at an average of 108.6.
The third leg of the multi will be the first wicket of the game to be caught. This bet has been a staple throughout the season so far because it just keeps winning. It has saluted in over 80% of games and still offers decent value at $1.36 in this game.
