The 2nd game of the Monday night double header in BBL11 sees the Brisbane Heat taking on the Perth Scorchers at Marvel Stadium from 8.15pm! As always, Mr. Cricket has his preview and betting tips for the clash below.
BBL11 Heat vs Scorchers Betting Tips
Marvel Stadium, Monday 17th January, 8.15pm (AEDT)
Brisbane Heat
Predicted XI: Chris Lynn, Ben Duckett, Max Bryant, Sam Heazlett, Jimmy Peirson, James Bazely, Jack Wildermuth, Michael Neser, Mark Steketee, Matthew Kuhnemann, Mitchell Swepson
The Heat had a whole host of players that returned a positive test on the 5th of January. A few returned in their loss to the Stars on Sunday night but the rest should be back in the line-up on Monday to take on the Scorchers.
They were disappointing on Sunday night, scoring just 149 runs bating first before allowing the Stars to steamroll them, passing the total with a whopping 37 balls left. They currently sit nine points behind the fifth placed Hurricanes, so mathematically, their season is over. They’ll no doubt be looking to ride out the season on a high though.
Perth Scorchers
Predicted XI: Kurtis Patterson, Nick Hobson, Laurie Evans, Ashton Turner, Aaron Hardie, Chris Sabburg, Andrew Tye, Jason Behrendorff, Peter Hatzoglou, David Moody, Lance Morris
The Perth Scorchers sit at the other end of the spectrum to the Heat, maintaining a seven point lead over the Sixers with just one game to go. Technically, they can still be knocked off the top spot, but they need only a win or a big bash boost point here to secure the top spot.
The Scorchers will play this final game with a battered line-up, but fortunately for them it looks as though they will have a massive injection of talent into the line-up for their first finals game. Josh Inglis, Mitch Marsh, Colin Munro and Jhye Richardson could all be available for the qualifier against either of the Sydney sides on Saturday night.
Match Prediction
Tough game to call here between a Heat side that will be playing with complete freedom knowing that they cannot make the finals and a Scorchers side that is seriously undermanned at the moment. The Scorchers start as slight favourites at Marvel and I’m going to have to side with them.
We’ve seen over the past few weeks that they do have the ability to get the job done with these second unit guys. The likes of Nick Hobson, Laurie Evans, Aaron Hardie and Lance Morris have all been super impressive for them while the big guns have been out, and I think they will be better suited to the Marvel pitch after playing multiple games there earlier in the season.
Plus, there’s a small chance that one or multiple of the big stars named above actually suit up for the Scorchers on Monday night.
