The action continues at Manuka Oval tonight as we see two teams who will be keen to turnaround their form in the Sydney Thunder and the Hobart Hurricanes.
The Thunder come into this match off the back of two straight losses and have suddenly hit a rare slump of form in their BBL10 campaign. Their opponents tonight are in a similar boat with Hobart losing their last three to be reeling down towards the bottom of the ladder. You can guarantee both sides will be keen to snap their losing streaks here and we are in for an exciting match.
The performance of Alex Hales will again be a massive factor for the Thunder as he continues to score runs for fun this season while D’arcy Short finally got amongst the runs in Hobart’s last match and will look to build on that here tonight.

Match Prediction
While both sides come into this in struggling form it still looks the Sydney Thunder’s match to lose. They have been one of the best performing sides throughout the whole season and still sit in 2nd place even after two straight losses. Their opponents in comparison, have been extremely poor recently and have now lost three straight to be sitting in 7th and look a big chance to miss the finals.
Big-hitting opener Alex Hales has been a star so far this season, sitting 2nd on the run scorer charts with 323 runs and has been a massive reason for the success his team has been having. The Hurricanes bowlers have been struggling in recent matches, conceding 183 against the Stars and then only taking one wicket in a big loss against the Scorchers. I love the match-up for the Thunder here and I am predicting Hales and the Thunder batsmen will lead their team to another victory.
The Hurricanes started the season in decent form and were looking like they may challenge for a finals position come the latter stages of the tournament. The struggles with the ball have been obvious and their skipper D’arcy Short has struggled for runs all season. It looks to me like the ‘Canes are lacking confidence and momentum as the season draws to a close and the Thunder might be a little too good for them. History is also in Sydney’s favour, winning four of the last five matches between these two sides. Here’s to hoping they can make it one more tonight.
Sydney Thunder Prop Bet
I’ve touched on him a few times already in this preview but it’s just too hard to ignore the form of Alex Hales at the moment. He has been bashing bowlers to all parts this season and I am keen that he can continue that against the struggling Hurricanes.
Hales has scored 40+ runs in five innings this season and more often than not, a score around that mark will see you top the runs for your side. I am keen on the matchup that Hales faces here against a Hurricanes side who only took one wicket in 17 overs of their last match.
As has been the case all season I am happy to stick with players in form and Hales looks the obvious in this Thunder lineup. He also doesn’t mind playing against the ‘Canes as history will tell us. Hales scored 55 and 63 respectively against Hobart last season so let’s hope he can continue this tonight.

Hobart Hurricanes Prop Bet
Speaking of men in form, Ben McDermott has been one of the best players throughout this season and I am keen to follow him in here tonight for Hobart. McDermott sits just behind Hales in the run scorer charts with 301 runs and has been the ‘Canes best player this year.
McDermott has hit some monster scores this season including an 89 and a 91 to lead his team in the batting department. Coming up against a strong Thunder bowling lineup, the Hurricanes batsmen will have their work cut out and I think McDermott will be the one to handle the pressure best.
There haven’t been too many batsmen within the Hobart side who have scored runs consistently which makes me think McDermott is going to be the safest option. If he can get his eye in early and cash in later in the innings he will give this a good shake.
