Match Prediction
With the logjam between third and seventh on the bbl table, this clash is going to be crucial for both sides trying to establish a spot in the top five. Whilst the Stars have lost four of their last five, they haven’t played poorly, they just haven’t had much luck. One issue they need to solve is their bowling, but Haris Rauf’s return strengthens their bowling attack. Adam Zampa has been in excellent form and outside of Alex Carey, the majority of the Strikers batting outfit has struggled against spin. The Strikers got off to a flying start in their last match, before the Renegades turned to spin and it changed the game. Expect the Stars to go to Zampa and Maxwell early in the game.
The Stars two big guns in Stoinis and Maxwell have kicked into form, Stoinis has 230 runs at an average of 38 and Maxwell has 255 runs at an average of 55. Nicholas Pooran has been dynamic, if the Stars can get some more production out of Andre Fletcher they are going to be tough to beat. Whilst Alex Carey is having a great season, Phil Salt, Jake Weatherald, Matthew Renshaw and Jon Wells have struggled for consistency this season, so the Stars match up well against the Strikers side.
The Strikers have relied heavily on their bowling attack so far this season so if the Stars can get on top of Rashid Khan and Wes Agar, they will go a long way towards winning this match. The Stars have shown consistently over the years that they just find a way to win crucial games in the regular season. With the experience in the side, they will be right up to the challenge of knocking off the Strikers at Adelaide Oval. With a spot in the top five on the line, expect the Stars to rise to the occasion.
Strikers Prop Bet
Whilst most of his teammates have struggled this season, captain Alex Carey has held the Strikers batting lineup together. Carey has scored 258 runs at an average of 36, which has him as the fourth highest run scorer in the comp. With the inconsistency of Salt and Weatherald, Carey has been incredible at pacing his innings. His ability to play spin is going to be crucial against Zampa and Maxwell.
Carey’s record against the Stars is impressive, scoring 167 runs at an average of 55. Carey has scored 33, 45, 30 and 59 not out in his four games against the Stars. Carey has been incredibly reliable this season, and with a big game against a side that he has had success against before, expect Carey to produce another big score.
