Match Prediction
Both teams started their campaigns brightly, but were both brought back to earth in their last fixtures. The Hurricanes have shown a lot more than the Renegades so far, with Colin Ingram (126 runs) and Tim David (103 runs) the two leading run scorers so far in the tournament. Whilst James Faulkner leads the comp for wickets with seven in three games. The Hurricanes look to have built a plan around a squad that looks very reliable.
The same cannot be said about the Renegades. They registered a dominant seven wicket win in their first game, before copping a 145 run thumping from the Sixers. Across the history of the BBL the Renegades have always been a Jekyll and Hyde team. You only have to look at their last two seasons, (winning the BBL08 title, and last place in BBL09) to see this. The loss of Aaron Finch is indisputably big, he has scored the most runs in matches between the Renegades and Hurricanes, with 422 runs.
The continuity the Hurricanes have had so far in their fixture and squad will give them a big advantage over the Renegades. The Hurricanes have won their past three matches against the Renegades. The Hurricanes look the goods in this clash, their depth and consistency with bat and ball will be too much to handle for a Renegades side that hasn’t shown enough with bat so far this season. Back at Blundstone Arena, after an impressive start to the season, expect the Hurricanes to progress to 3-1.
Hurricanes Prop Bet
Ben McDermott has had plenty of success against the Renegades, with scores of 38*, 51*, 39* and 50 in his last four matches. 178 runs in four games at an average of 178, scoring 128 runs without being dismissed in his last three games against the Renegades.
McDermott top scored in the Hurricanes last match, with 46 off 33 after returning from the Australia A squad where he scored a century against India. McDermott had a solid BBL09 campaign, scoring 265 runs at an average of 26.5, and is looking capable of putting together a big season with the absence of Matthew Wade. McDermott is in great touch and has an all round game to handle the variety the Renegades bowling attack possess. McDermott is an excellent choice as the Hurricanes top run scorer.

Renegades Prop Bet
Shaun Marsh continues to dominate the BBL, he may be getting up there in age, but his form definitely isn’t slowing down. After crossing to the Renegades in BBL09, Marsh scored 449 runs, to be the fifth highest run scorer in the comp. Marsh started his BBL10 campaign in fine fashion, with a brisk 62 off 47 deliveries against the Scorchers. With Aaron Finch out for the next few games, expect Marsh to relish the extra responsibility on his shoulders.
Marsh has had his way with the Hurricanes over the past few years. In his past six innings against the Hurricanes, Marsh has scored 283 runs at an average of 56.6 with scores of 56, 37, 30, 57, 63 not out and 40. After an embarrassing performance in their last match, Marsh will be eager to lead the bounce back. With Finch out and Sam Harper often quite hit and miss, Marsh is a safe bet to be the Renegades top run scorer.
