Match Prediction
The Hurricanes potent batting lineup had a rare failure on Sunday night, but in a positive they still managed to put up 148 on a bad night for them. D’Arcy Short (27), Ben McDermott (16), Colin Ingram (17) all got starts, they just couldn’t carry on. So even in a loss, there were plenty of positives for the Hurricanes. With the incredible depth in this Hurricanes side, you can expect their last match to be a blip on the radar.
This matchup provides two very different styles, the Heat rely on their starpower whilst the Hurricanes strength this season has been their depth. Colin Ingram (161 runs, 2nd in the league), Ben McDermott (151 runs, 4th in the league) and Tim David (145 runs, 6th in the league) have all had excellent seasons, and there’s still Dawid Malan, D’Arcy Short and Peter Handscomb in that lineup. That depth gives them the ability to handle most situations thrown at them.
As cricket fans have become accustomed to over the years, it’s impossible to trust the Heat and their incredibly inconsistent team. Whilst the Hurricanes couldn’t get the job done on Sunday, they’ve been an incredibly reliable outfit over the past few seasons. Don’t be discouraged by the Canes loss on Sunday, they’re too good of a team to drop two in a row against the Heat. Expect a bounce back win from the Hurricanes.
Heat Prop Bet
With Chris Lynn’s injury, Jimmy Pierson has relished the responsibility leading this struggling Brisbane Heat side. In the two matches Lynn has been sidelined, Pierson scored 69 not out and 16 not out to see the Heat over the line against the Hurricanes on Sunday.
Pierson has only been dismissed once this season, whilst possessing a strike rate of 142. His ability to adapt to any situation is crucial given the fragile nature of the Heat’s batsmen. In his two last innings against the Hurricanes he has scored 23 not out and 50. With the form Pierson is in, and the struggles his teammates have gone through this season, Pierson is an excellent choice as the Heat’s top run scorer.

Hurricanes Prop Bet
With the Hurricanes remarkable batting depth there will be some shuffling of the order as they look to find their best order. One man who will hold a consistent spot is star import Dawid Malan. The number one ranked T20 batsmen in the world has arrived on Australian shores and will be looking to make an early impact.
Malan is coming off a dominant T20I series against South Africa, where he scored 173 runs at an average of 86.5 in a three match series. In his first knock out of quarantine he scored 15, but he’ll only get better as the tournament goes on. On a batting friendly surface in Brisbane, expect Malan to stamp his authority on the tournament against a Heat attack that has struggled this season.
