BBL09 Sixers vs Strikers Betting Tips
Sydney Sixers
The Sixers bowling attack has been superb through the opening parts of the season and they currently sit 2nd on the BBL09 ladder with a 4-2 record through six games. Their bowling stocks will get even stronger on Sunday as they bring in star Test paceman Josh Hazlewood into the squad to replace the injured Sean Abbott. It’s unknown whether the Sixers will take a four pronged pace attack into the game or whether they will drop one of Tom Curran, Ben Dwarshius or Jackson Bird to accommodate Hazlewood, regardless, it is arguably the best bowling attack in the Big Bash League.
The batting for the Sixers still leaves a little to be desired, and they can really be susceptible to a collapse, however, there are promising signs there with young gun Josh Philippe batting well at the top of the order and lynchpin Daniel Hughes regularly in the runs. Hughes had two strong performances against the Strikers last season, scoring 51 off 44 in the first game and 24 off 17 in the second. He has scored 144 runs this season at a healthy average of 24 playing as the anchor for the Sixers. We like him to clear his run line here.
Hughes OVER 23.5 Runs
$1.88
Adelaide Strikers
The Strikers have a massive bowling inclusion of their own as they bring Michael Neser into the squad to replace Wes Agar. Neser will combine with Billy Stanlake, Peter Siddle and Rashid Khan to make up a lethal bowling line-up while the pace bowler also adds valuable lower order power hitting.
The Strikers caught a glimpse of the ability of Englishman Phil Salt in their game against the Renegades last week as the import smashed 54 runs off just 26 balls. However, that is the only time in five games that Salt has been able to surpass 20 runs and against a quality Sixers bowling line-up on a completely unknown pitch in Coffs Harbour, we don’t fancy his chances here.
Salt UNDER 20.5 Runs
$1.89
Prediction
Love the value of the Sixers here. They start as underdogs with on an unknown pitch with a world class bowling attack. The Sixers have won their last three games on the trot, keeping their opposition to an average score of just over 142 runs.
Back the inclusion of Hazlewood and an in-form, Dwarshius, O’Keefe and Bird to get the job done here.
