Bendigo will play host to a nine-race card on Wednesday on a program where there is some value about.
The action gets underway with Race 1 at 1:30pm, with the last on the day concluding at 5:05pm. The track will likely be rated as a Soft 5 or Soft 6.
Brendan Bunworth takes a look at the midweek meeting and brings us his best bets from the Bendigo card.
Bendigo Racing Tips: Wednesday November 9th
Race 1
*SCRATCHED* (7) Tiz My Bay should start us off on a winning note in a race which looks pretty ordinary. The mare has had 10 starts and is still a maiden but she's shown enough talent to suggest she should be winning this.
First up after a one year spell she was backed to win and got done by a nose at Sale on October 23. She got a bit too far back on that occasion but if she gets to a similar spot this time, the bigger Bendigo straight should help her get there in time.
(9) Our Total Recall is also second up and did run home well at Mornington first run back. Should improve.
(4) Muselet hasn't shown a lot on two starts but must be kept safe for the capable Greg Eurell stable.
(6) Rugged Woman is strong and fit and should be in the top 4.
Race 4
(11) Beautiful to Me is first up from a spell and should start at nice each-way odds here.
He was just learning in his first prep and has had a long seven-month spell and the Freedman team would have educated him in readiness for this the last few weeks. He will likely get back a bit but has proven that most surfaces don't phase him. Jordan Childs takes the ride and will try to relax the horse before unleashing a run down the home straight.
(3) Shootoose has a wide barrier in 12 but was very consistent last prep. He should have won at Wodonga when beaten a lip and he is never far away from the winner. If he gets backed in on Wednesday morning that will likely suggest that he is doing well at home for Simon Zahra.
(5) Cause for Concern is a first starter for the Shea Eden team and does have a wide barrier in 13. Teo Nugent takes the ride and we will have to monitor the market with this one.
(8) King Neptune has to be included for the Stokes team. He was fair on debut at Cranbourne and will be better this time.
(11) Beautiful to Me E/W
$9.00/$3.50 (0.5 units E/W)
Race 8
(5) The Duke of Dubai was only beaten 1.6L at Caulfield last start when fifth in a harder race than this one here. Before that he was sixth to Carlisle and Carlisle backed up that effort with a strong effort at Flemington last week.
Jamie Mott takes the ride this time and he is more than capable when riding horses for the first time. He has won two from four on Good tracks and he is another who may appreciate extra room at Bendigo as he is a swopper.
(3) Western Sun was poor when resuming but did get beaten by a nose when second up last time. He is very consistent having only missed a placing once in his career (last start).
(16) Oceana Blue is another who goes well second up and he is doing just that in this race.
(13) Standoff gets a long way back but in an easier race this time.
(5) The Duke of Dubai
$4.40 (2 units)
Race 9
(8) No Drama for Lindsay Smith and Craig Newitt have a big chance in this last. He has started under $2 in all of his starts and is progressing nicely. He was beaten when resuming when starting $1.70 but Smith has given him a freshen up since then and he should be fitter this time.
(15) Nickleback for Team Hawkes is in good form but this race is harder. He defeated Tiz My Bay when breaking his maiden last time and if Tiz My Bay wins earlier today then his odds may come in even further.
(11) Holymanz will start favourtie on the back of his debut win and he has drawn well in six. Johnny Allen takes the ride and he should settle around third or fourth.
(1) Celebrity’s Beau has drawn well in two but does have to carry 59.5kg for Luke Nolen.
