Bendigo will host an eight-race program on Wednesday on a surprising Good4 track which is a rarity this time of year in Victoria. Race 1 will commence at 12:25pm, (AEST) and on what looks to be a tough day for punters, we have come up with three best bets on the program with the first of those coming up in Race 3.

Bendigo Racing Tips: Wednesday, May 22nd 2024
Race 3: Workforce Extensions Maiden Plate - 1:35pm (AEST)
(10) Retourne drew wide last start at Kyneton and ran on well for 3rd and from barrier 1 here he should get a cozy run positioning up midfield. He has placed in his last three starts and has been knocking after trying different tactics in the run. He has tried to lead, tried to be ridden back and has settled midfield which proves he is very versatile. A senior rider in Shinn hops on top here and he should run well again.
(8) Peaceful Protest has drawn wide in 11 and Johnny Allen will have a decision to make early. He did settle outside the leader last time when 2nd so won't want to use too much early petrol if he tries that again.
(5) Joffrey was beaten a nose last time with Fry on top. Fry takes the ride again and it doesn’t matter if the track is Soft or Good for this guy.
(10) Retourne
$3.40 (2 Units)
Race 5: Sheahan Plumbing Handicap - 2:45pm (AEST)
(1) La Perrain ran on well last start at The Bool and despite going up 3kg in weight can run a similar race here I reckon. The rise of 100m in distance seems ideal and the Maher & Allen combination strike well. Before that run, JMAC was on top when he settled on speed but faded late for 6th at Warwick Farm. If he can get to the right part of the track unlike he did at The Bool last start, he is a big chance.
(3) Mansiere was tipped to win here last start and had some large bets on it but failed on Saturday meeting when 4th. The Ryan stable decided to freshen him up after that and they are having another crack here. He is currently $6.50 on the fixed but I reckon he might be backed again.
(4) Varane is 1 from 1 and he resumes on another predicted Good track for the Payne stable. He was the fav on debut and has had a number on trials leading into his second up race.
(1) La Perrain E/W
$6.00/$2.10 (1 Unit)
Race 8: Happy Birthday Bendigo Mazda Handicap - 4:30pm (AEST)
(12) Chill The Krug dropped 200m in distance last start and raced quite well at The Bool when she ran on well over the final 200m for 4th. She drops 2kg for this which will help and conditions should suit and she should also go better over this distance for the second time. At Cranbourne on March 22 she was more forward in the run and saluted so it will be interesting to see the tactics here.
(13) Apache Song got up in a photo finish last start at Hillside and if the tracks remains good by the last race, he would have a big chance.
(14) Dismount is 1 from 1 with Egan on top and he takes the ride again. If he runs he should get a good position in the run and will likely go forward.
(12) Chill The Krug E/W
$10.00/$3.20 (1 Unit)
