Bowling
The Scorchers are blessed to have an embarrassment of home grown bowling talent to call upon, meaning they don’t have to use any of their coveted international import selections on bowlers. Andrew Tye, Jason Behrendorff and Jyhe Richardson have all represent Australia in limited overs cricket and all three will be available for the whole BBL10 season. Add all-rounder Mitch Marsh to that list and the Scorchers possess what is probably the best pace bowling attack in the competition.
The Scorchers aren’t lacking in the spin department either, bringing in Fawad Ahmed to combine with all-rounder Ashton Agar this season. If they put their best team on the park, the Scorchers have seven legit bowling options, and could also get star all-rounder Cameron Green back later in the season when his Test duties are over. It’s almost impossible to decide which one of these quicks could top the wicket-takers list this season, so we’ll hunt some value and opt for Tye, who sits 5th on the BBL all time wicket takers list with 72 from 52 games.

Batting
Because of the deep domestic bowling stocks, the Scorchers are able to insert some international level talent in at the top of the order. English duo Liam Livingstone and Jason Roy will form a dynamic opening partnership when they arrive from international duty while Kiwi Colin Munro has proven himself a top BBL player over the past few years.
Mitch Marsh and Aston Turner are some of the best closers in the game and along with Aston Agar, they will be able to turn good scores into great scores at the end of the innings. Munro looks like the only batsman in the top four who is a lock to play the whole season, so represents good value to top their runscorers list.

Prediction: 2nd
The deepest squad in the league bar none. Players we haven’t even mentioned in the above paragraphs include some top tier talent in the likes of Matt Kelly, Kurtis Patterson, Cameron Bancroft, Joel Paris and Sam Whiteman. COVID-19 might have effected them the most, as Perth is such a strong home-field advantage, but the way the fixture has worked out, they will only play their first two home games away from Optus Stadium. They should be strong this season and we have them finishing just below the Stars.
