Bowling
The Strikers will be hurt by the fact that Michael Neser could miss a large portion of the BBL10 season due to his inclusion in the Test squad. The loss of Billy Stanlake also hurts their quest for a 2nd Big Bash League title. They did pick up Daniel Worrall from the Stars, who has been playing first class cricket in South Australia for a few years now and is one of the premier swing bowlers at the domestic level. Peter Siddle being available for the full season will also be a plus.
The majority of the wicket-taking responsibility will of course fall on the shoulders of spinner Rashid Kahn though. The Afghanistan import has taken 56 wickets in 40 career BBL games and was the lynchpin in the Strikers picking up the title a few years ago. He will, however, only be available for half of the season, with the leg-spinner facing international duty as Afghanistan line up for an ODI series against Ireland. Because of this, we love the value of Danny Worrall to be the leading Strikers wicket-taker this season.

Batting
With skipper Travis Head set to miss the majority of the season due to Test duties, the Strikers will be without one of the premier T20 batsmen in the competition. However, they have a fairly solid depth chart to call upon, led by Australian limited overs wicket-keeper Alex Carey and BBL09 breakout star Jono Wells.
Wells was ridiculously consistent for the Strikers last season and arguably one of the most underrated performers across the league. He played a total of 14 innings in BBL09, clearing the 25 run mark on eight different occasions and scoring a mammoth 478 runs at a league best average of 68.29. There is a lot of uncertainty about Carey’s game at the top of the order, but as for Wells, we think he is a more consistent performer and represents great value to be the Strikers leading run-scorer for the 2nd straight season.

Prediction: 7th
While the Strikers definitely have some top end talent in the likes of Khan, Carey and Wells, we think their depth is really waning this season with the loss of Stanlake and Head set to be unavailable for the majority of the year. The bookmakers have them as one of the favorites but we just don’t see it going that way. Khan will likely depart in January, leaving an even bigger hole in their bowling stocks. We have Adelaide missing finals for the first time 3rd time in seven years this season.
