ATP Adelaide Outright Betting Tips
The top ranked player in the draw in Adelaide is Tommy Paul, who is the beneficiary of a first round bye here to kick off his season. Paul is one of the better returns of serve on tour, however with his outright price sub-$5, I am not sure how keen I am to get involved here the week before a grand slam tournament. Perhaps someone like a David Goffin at $34 may be worth a small play coming out of this section. He is a strong counterpuncher and will look to respond from his poor showing in Brisbane last week.
With Tomas Machac coming out of the draw, Felix Auger-Aliassime is the beneficiary of the first round by in this section. It’s an interesting little section, with the likes of Zhizhen Zhang, Denis Shapovalov, Marcos Giron, Aleks Vukic and Arthur Cazaux all capable, however there is limited value in the outright markets given how competitive this section is. Shapovalov was struggling in Hong Kong with a virus, so it will be interesting to see how he fares this week in Adelaide.
Very rarely do I find myself in a position where I am interested in backing a player who has won the previous week, but that is the case here with Jiri Lehecka in the third quarter. He comes into this having played less than two sets across the semi final and final courtesy of back to back retirements, so shouldn’t be too fatigued entering this week when you also consider the first round bye. This section includes a couple of interesting names in Alexander Bublik and Miomir Kecmanovic, however I am not entertained by their outright prices.
I am happy to avoid the bottom quarter for the most part, as the big question mark surrounds Seb Korda on his return from injury. He was a late withdrawal last week, so we will see what this week brings. Although there are no other names in this section that catch my eye in the outright markets, I do feel as though it does strengthen my interest in Lehecka making his way through from this half.
**Since the time of writing, Jiri Lehecka has pulled out of the draw, set to be replaced by a lucky loser. This further opens up the bottom part of the draw. I'll take a former finalist here in Arthur Rinderknech at $67 in the third quarter, and Yoshihito Nishioka at $26 in the bottom quarter, with both selections for 0.25 units**
Suggested Bets
0.25 units Arthur Rinderknech to win ATP Adelaide ($67 at Bet365)
0.25 units Yoshihito Nishioka to win ATP Adelaide ($26 at Bet365)
