AFL Round 16 North Melbourne vs Port Adelaide Betting Tips
Two teams with very contrasting positions in the AFL so far will battle it out on Saturday night. The Power sit atop the ladder and the Roos sit in second last place. Not the mouth-watering affair that a Saturday night usually offers up, but it’s footy nonetheless.
North Melbourne
The Roos are arguably the worst team in the competition at the moment. They have lost their last five games on the trot by an average margin of 36.8 points and have probably their toughest test to date this season against a rampant Port Adelaide side.
It’s absolute carnage on the Roos injury list at the moment, and star players Ben Brown and Curtis Taylor were ruled out for the remainder of the season through the week. They currently have 16 players on the injury list, 9 of whom are out for the season.
There’s not many positives to take out of the North Melbourne season so far but the midfield duo of Jed Anderson and Jye Simpkin have been solid and will benefit from the extended opportunity through the middle of the ground. Anderson has averaged 21 disposals a game in his last three against Port Adelaide but has a bigger role in the midfield this season. Like the value of him to get 25 here.

Port Adelaide
After a disappointing loss to the Tigers, the Power have bounced back to win their last two games on the trot over the Hawks and Swans. They have another relatively easy game here against the Roos, who they are expected to dispatch of comfortably to remain on top of the ladder. With games against the Roos, Bombers and Magpies to come, Port Adelaide’s destiny is in their own hands as they currently sit atop the ladder with a healthy percentage advantage.
The Power have arguably the best looking injusy list in the league at the moment. Mitch Georgiades looks set to return to the line-up, leaving only Peter Ladhams out of their potential best 22.
Travis Boak has been in All-Australian form this season, averaging22 disposals per game and in his last four against the Roos has put up a monster 29.8 touches per game. We like him to have another big game this Saturday.
Prediction
I just have a bad feeling for the Roos in this game. The Power will be hunting percentage points to make sure they maintain a nice buffer over the Lions, who currently sit tied on points with them atop the ladder. Back the Power to get a big big win here.
