AFL Round 15 Brisbane vs Collingwood Betting Tips
Gabba, 7.50pm (AEST)
With just a few rounds to go in the AFL home and away season, both the Lions and Magpies are trying to lock down a spot in the top four, which makes this Friday night clash super important for both teams!
Brisbane
The Lions will be fresh after coming up a full 11 days break, something that has been extremely hard to come by over the last few months of AFL action. Their last game came against the Saints back on the 23rd of August, where they recorded a thrilling 2 point win to maintain their spot in the top four. They currently sit in fourth place with a 10-3 record but are locked on points with both the Cats in 3rd and the Eagles in 5th.
One thing that will work in the Lions favour in their attempt to lock down a spot in the top four or possibly top two is their run home. They play three of their four remaining games at the Gabba, where they are still undefeated this season, and three of those games are against very beatable opponents in the Suns, Swans and Blues. If they can get over the line on Friday night, there’s a solid chance they win out and finish atop the ladder.
We are going to keep an eye on the Alex Witherden markets here and report back to you closer to game time. Daniel Rich will likely return from injury this week, which should mean he takes the kick out responsibilities back off Witherden. Expect Witherden’s production to go down slightly.
Tip Coming Soon
Collingwood
After a horror loss to the Demons in Round 12, the Pies have bounced back to win their last two on the trot, albeit against bottom eight teams in the Roos and Blues. They have won four of their last five but have still looked pretty shaky without a bunch of key players through injury.
Steele Sidebottom, Jordan De Goey, Adam Treloar, Chris Mayne and Jeremy Howe remain on the sidelines for the Pies, but they have been finding a way to get the job done of late, and have gotten some key role players back in the side over the last few weeks.
Brody Mihocek has played just two games in his career against the Lions and in those two games, has booted seven goals. He was arguably best on ground when the two sides met in Round 5 last season, booting four goals and taking eight marks.
Prediction
There’s no doubt that the Pies have been a much improved outfit over the last few weeks as they continue to get players back from injury and build chemistry with a very different looking outfit to the one that competed last season.
The Pies have been a bit of a bogeyman for the Lions in recent history, winning 9 of their last 10 games against Brisbane and their last six on the trot at the Gabba. The most recent of those six wins came last season, a 62 point win in Round 5 highlighted by big games from Brody Mihocek, Mason Cox and Jamie Elliot. Back the Pies to continue their solid run at the Gabba and cover the 13.5 point spread here.
