AFL Round 14 Western Bulldogs vs Geelong Betting Tips
Metricon Stadium, 7.50pm (AEST)
The Cats and Bulldogs will both be bringing winning streaks into their clash on Friday night and have an interesting history over the last few years which include a number of thrilling games. Friday night is shaping up to be another close game, with the Cats starting as single digit favourites.
Western Bulldogs
The Bulldogs went into their clash against Melbourne in Round 13 as underdogs but proved they are a top eight calibre team with a 28 point win. That came on the back of a 57 point win over the Crows in Round 12, so the Dogs will be hunting their third straight on Friday night. With the win, they jumped into the top eight and sit a game clear of the Dees in ninth place. Their destiny is now in their hands but the road home isn’t easy with games against Geelong, West Coast and a much improved Fremantle side in their last four.
After battling through a period of carnage earlier in the season, the Dogs injury list is now one of the best in the league. Matt Suckling and Zaine Cordy are in the mix to return this week while just Lin Jong and Rhylee West are the only other missing players from their potential best 22.
Mitch Wallis has been an absolute revelation up forward for the Dogs this year and currently sits in 9th place on the Coleman Medal tally with 20 goals through 13 games. He has kicked 7 of them in the last three games and seems to be relishing his role as a permanent forward. Back Wallis to snag at least two this week as the Dogs continue to spread the love around their forwards.
Geelong
The Cats have won their last four games on the trot and now sit in third place on the ladder behind only Port Adelaide and Brisbane. They sit just one game behind those two teams, but have both covered comfortably in the percentage department, so there is a good chance they finish in the top two this season.
They were without skipper Joel Selwood in their win over the Crows on the weekend but the midfielder is in the mix to return this week, as is defender Zach Tuohy. All in all, the cats have a really strong looking injury list at the moment, with only Gary Ablett a long term concern. It will be interesting to see whether forward Josh Jenkins can force his way into the side after a sub-par game from big man Esava Ratugolea on the weekend.
Cam Guthrie has been on an absolute tear through the midfield of late, averaging 26.2 touches across his last seven games. He has an expanded role in the midfield and should clear the 25 touch mark again on Friday night.

Prediction
The Cats have had one of the best defences in the league over the past few months. Outside of a disappointing performance against the Eagles where they allowed 73 poits, the Cats have allowed just 39.7 points per game over their last 7, and their opponents have scored in the 30’s for the last three weeks in a row. At the very most I think this score only gets to around 60-50 in favour of either team, but there is a world where the Cats keep the Dogs to under 50.
