AFL Round 14 Sunday Betting Tips
Carlton vs Collingwood
Gabba, 3.35pm (AEST)
If the Blues win on Sunday, there’s a chance they could finish Round 14 inside the top eight. They currently sit in 11th place, just four points behind the Western Bulldogs in 8th. The two teams in between them are Essendon, who have already played in Round 14, and Melbourne, who have a tough clash against St Kilda on Saturday night. The Blues have won their last two games against Fremantle and Gold Coast and have winnable games against the Pies, Giants, Swans and Crows in their run home.
Collingwood have been in woeful form over the past few months but have luckily had a really soft schedule so have been able to maintain their spot in the top eight. They are 3-3 in their last six games with wins over the bottom three teams on the ladder in the Crows, Swans and the Kangaroos in their last matchup.
The Pies start as just 1.5 point favourites here, which seems about right given their current form. Don’t really fancy myself to pick this one either way, I think these two teams are very evenly matched, but I like the look of the unders here. Four of the last five games that the Pies have been involved in have resulted in under 110 points while the last two Carlton games have produced an average of just 71.5 total points.

Gold Coast vs North Melbourne
Metricon, 6.10pm (AEST)
The Suns have not won a game since all the way back in Round 7 and forfeited their spot inside the top eight long ago. They currently sit in 14th place on the ladder with a 4-8-1 record with minimal chance of making the top eight. They do have some winnable games in the stretch home, starting with the Roos on Sunday where they’ll open as 8.5 point favourites.
While their record reads 0-2, the Roos have actually been pretty solid in their last two games against the Lions and Magpies. Their game against Brisbane in particular, where they lost by just one point, they showed signs that they can match it with the best teams in the league. The problem for the Roos at the moment is their injury list, which is currently around 16 players deep.
Compare that to the Suns injury list, which currently has just four players on it, and it’s a stark contrast of availability at the selection table within the two clubs. The Suns slick ball movement thrives in good conditions, which is what they will get on Sunday. Back them to win this one.
