AFL Round 11 Gold Coast vs Essendon Betting Tips
Metricon Stadium, 7.10pm (AEST)
Both the Bombers and Suns will be coming off four point losses in Round 10 as the Giants and Saints got the better of them respectively. Both sit just outside the top eight and a win here will be super important for their chances of playing finals with just six games to go following this one.
Gold Coast
The Suns were super competitive and lead late in the game against the Saints but ultimately couldn’t get the job done as they went down by just four points. Max King was fantastic in the loss, kicking three goals while young star Izak Rankine continued his good form adding two himself.
The Suns have a really strong looking injury list at the moment, probably the best in the league with only Matt Rowell, Mitch Riordan and George Horlin-Smith likely to be missing from their best 22 this week.
Touk Miller has been the Suns best player against Essendon in recent history, racking up 27.8 disposals per game in his last four games against the Bombers. He had 18 touches and kicked two goals last week against the Saints as he played some time forward but we expect him to be back in the midfield and playing a big role on Wednesday night.

Essendon
The Bombers lead for the majority of the game against GWS in Round 10 but like the Suns, couldn’t get the job done, going down by four points after a 4-1 goal final quarter in the Giants favour. Zach Merrett was back to his best in the loss, racking up 33 touches.
The Bombers injury lists keeps growing, with key players Dyson Heppell, Cale Hooker, Orazio Fantasia and Jake Stringer still on the sidelines. Dylan Shiel returned from suspension against the Giants, giving them a much needed boost in the midfield.
With so many forwards out for the Bombers at the moment, Kyle Langford has become one of the main targets for Essendon. He has kicked at least two goals in thee out of his last four games and will start forward against on Wednesday night. Great value to snag two here.
Prediction
Tough game to call here and the bookies see it the same way. The Suns start as just 4.5 points favourites but we are opting to stay away from the line because we think this could go either way. Perfect conditions on the Gold Coast on Wednesday night combined with two teams that like to play a pretty fast pace has us liking the over.
The last 10 games between the Bombers and Suns have resulted in a ridiculous 204.6 total points per game and the last time they squared off, in Round 19 last season, they booted 31 goals between them for 202 total points.
