AFL Daily Fantasy Tips 2025: Round 4 Collingwood vs Carlton

April 3rd 2025, 2:30am, By: Jesse Penfold

Fantasy Tips

We get an absolute blockbuster between the leagues oldest and biggest rivals to kick off Round 4 of the 2025 AFL Premiership Season this Thursday night. Yes that is right, Collingwood and Carlton will square off in what is almost a season on the line game for the Blues. Carlton has started the season 0-3 in a year where they would have had premiership aspirations. In order to get back on track they will need to topple Collingwood who look to be in decent form at 2-1 after a disappointing opening round.

As always this is all about the daily fantasy and this massive Friday night game draws another massive $75,000 prize pool at Draftstars in it’s main contest. In addition, there are a variety of alternate contests:

AFL $75,000+ Magpies vs Blues

AFL $5,000+ Magpies vs Blues High Roller ($150 Entry)

AFL $3,000+ Magpies vs Blues Mini ($2 Entry)

The AFL Star contest is back again for 2025 and Draftstars are once again offering the biggest prize pool in Australian DFS history with a $1 million guaranteed final with $250,000 top prize! There are qualifiers and satellites running for every AFL match.

Weather

21 degrees with high chance of showers in the afternoon and evening.

Keep an eye on conditions as the first bounce approaches. There isn’t heavy rainfall predicted but given the timing it could be wet during the game and that might impact our roster choices.

Where to Attack?

In terms of fantasy scoring the Magpies and Blues have been in the middle of the league through these early games, neither side is dominating or over possessing the football.

On the flip side the Magpies have been one of the hardest sides to score against fantasy wise through three games. Despite this, one area that looks open to attack is through inside midfielders. Last week we saw Tom Liberatore racking up 34 disposals and over 100 fantasy points, two weeks prior Connor Rozee and Ollie Wines both had big scores despite a loss, and in the opening round all the GWS Giants mids filled up.

Game Script – Blues forwards and inside midfielders, Magpies backs

VALUE PLAYS

Ned Long ($7,580) as long as he isn’t the sub again this week, will be playing plenty of time in the midfield. He was in 14 centre bounces last time out against the Bulldogs and 22 the game before against Port Adelaide. This role led to back to back fantasy scores of 72 and 90, which is great return in a single game slate at his current price point.

Cooper Lord ($8,200) is another player that will be on sub alert so as always monitor the final teams. But as we saw in the first game of the season he racked up 70 fantasy points in half a game. Assuming he won’t be a sub this week he is an obvious play at this price point on a single game slate.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Sam Docherty ($11,940) has consistently returned 70+ point games when he has had a full game so far this season. This isn’t a great return at this price point but it isn’t a bad floor. We all know his ceiling is 100-120 and one of those games will be looming as he continues to get back into match fitness. On a single game slate I love the upside at this price point.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Darcy Cameron ($14,530) will once again assume sole ruck duties with Mason Cox being dropped this week. He should pose a great matchup for Tom De Koning with Cameron being consistently very hard to score fantasy points against. Given De Koning is priced over $2k more I love going to Cameron on this single game slate and using that salary through the midfield.

Patrick Cripps ($15,470) will have it all on his shoulders this week trying to drag Carlton to their first win. The Magpies do not have a direct opponent to sit on him and Cripps posted 107 points against them during their last matchup. So far this year we have seen inside midfielders consistently racking up 100+ games against the Magpies.
