Round 12 of the 2024 AFL Premiership Season brings a big bye round and therefore we only three games on our Super Saturday slate. Regardless, there’s still plenty of daily fantasy fun to be had! Things kick off in the afternoon with Hawthorn hosting Adelaide at the MCG. This should be an exciting contest between two teams who are chasing a potential top 8 birth while currently sitting 14th and 12th. Then we get a fantasy scoring dream matchup with West Coast hosting St Kilda over at Optus Stadium. Finally, the nightcap brings a legit hammer game for all the Geelong stacks as they will play Richmond down at their home ground in Geelong.

Weather
Melbourne – 14 degrees with possible chance of showers
Perth – 23 degrees, showers in the late afternoon and evening, thunderstorm in the evening
Geelong – 15 degrees, shower or two
Keep an eye on the conditions for the games in Melbourne and Geelong but it is unlikely weather should impact either too much.
Out in Perth it is expected to be wet for the game going by the game total points, however currently the forecast has the rain coming in the late afternoon and evening. Given it is the second game of the day some chances will have to be taken.
Where to Attack?
Plenty to target on this slate. Firstly, backs against St Kilda has been the creme dela creme of fantasy points going back through 2023 and now against in 2024. They are giving up 8 points above league average to wings and half backs, over 8 points above league average to general defenders and over 9 points above league average to designated kickers. This is the highest amount in the league for each position so load up in this role (weather dependant given they rely on uncontested possessions).
West Coast have started to leak points to inside midfielders and forwards, but they are a real Jekyll and Hyde setup at the moment in games at home vs away. Given this game is in Perth and the weather is an unknown I would stay away from targeting them to a degree.
Geelong continue to be the best side in the league to target with inside midfielders, however the real challenge here is that Richmond have no inside midfielders! On the flip side you can essentially target the Tigers at every position and Geelong game stacks will be a very popular option on this slate.
Game Script – Geelong stacks… pick your poison of position
VALUE PLAYS
Oliver Dempsey ($8,210) has been a revelation this season for the Cats. He started the season like a house on fire from a fantasy perspective and while he has slowed in recent weeks as the Cats have also started to struggle, he still came up with an 81-point game last week against Gold Coast. This week will be the easiest matchup of the season with Geelong 47-point favourites at home and the Tigers giving up the most points in the league to general forwards. There are plenty of Geelong forward stack options and I will start here to get my value with a 10x return minimum on the cards.
Jack Graham ($8,850) The Tigers are literally down to the bottom of the barrel for their inside midfield so someone has to soak up the roles. You can get value from any number of options at the Tigers this week and Tyler Sonie ($7,430) and Thomas Dow ($8,740) are also viable value options. But for me I will go with Jack Graham at this price as he’s at least a mature body who will offer Richmond a bit of stability in the middle with all their regular starters out. Liam Baker ($13,790) is the other veteran option if you want to spend up, and that is certainly viable given the Cats give up the most points in the league to inside midfielders.
MID PRICED PLAYS
Matt Flynn ($10,550) will get his first game for West Coast after a lengthy stint from a preseason injury. The Eagles are absolutely hanging out for a ruck presence and he will take the number one role immediately. He has 100-point upside and has an elite matchup in his debut match for the club against Rowan Marshall who has been giving up the most points in the league to rucks over the last 10 games. In addition, we have the rain looming in this game which is a gold mine for the ruck position.
PREMIUM PLAYS
Jack Steele ($15,930) will absolutely thrive in the wet if it arrives. The Eagles have been holding up very well against inside midfielders at home recently, so this isn’t without some risk, but I think regardless of conditions and game outcome, Steele should have a solid score in this matchup, noting that he still managed 116 points last week in a game where the Saints didn’t even make it to the ground.
Gryan Miers ($14,260) Continuing with the Cats forward stacks, Miers will make for a relatively low owned premium at this price point in the best matchup he’ll see all year. He’s having a break out season from a fantasy perspective and will offer over 100-point upside in this matchup.
