Adelaide 36ers vs Tasmania JackJumpers
Saturday 8pm AEDT, November 11th, Adelaide Entertainment Centre
The Adelaide 36ers have been one of the hardest teams to get a read on this season, such has been their see-sawing form/results from game to game. They’ve exceeded my expectations to date with three wins from nine games, particularly after starting 0-4.
They were on the wrong end of a 99-88 scoreline against the Wildcats on the road in their recent outing in Round 6, and their performance in that one was fairly poor in my opinion. The 36ers had the lead at stages late in the second half against the then out-of-form Wildcats, but couldn’t capitalise, mostly due to their deficiencies on the offensive end.
DJ Vasiljevic has been a solid inclusion into their line-up and adds much-needed firepower on offence, although they still significantly lack scoring from their big men, which is why it was surprising they didn’t go after free agent and long-serving veteran of this club in DJ Johnson.
Elsewhere, the Tasmania JackJumpers have also been somewhat hard to get a read on so far in NBL24. They started their campaign in terrific form with wins in three of their first four games, but have found it tough to replicate those performances as they head into Round 7 with only two wins from their past five.
Thankfully, the JackJumpers were able to take home a much-needed win against the Bullets in their latest clash (87-85), which keeps them in the top four for the time being. However, there are a number of teams that can easily leapfrog them at the conclusion of this weekend if they don’t take care of business on Saturday night.
In massive news for the JackJumpers, big man Will Magnay will make his long-awaited return to the court on Saturday night. Marcus Lee has been somewhat of a lone soldier at the 5 position so far, and Magnay’s inclusion should prove to be a significant boost.
Match prediction: In my opinion, this is a battle between a team that will finish in the bottom two (Bullets) against a team that has genuine title aspirations (JackJumpers). The odds don’t reflect my sentiments at all, with the JackJumpers currently listed as only slight favourites. I’ll be backing them in to win this one and to cover the small spread.
