NBA Betting Tips: Wednesday January 18th
Brooklyn Nets at San Antonio Spurs
Fiserv Forum, 11:30am AEDT
Looking two correct a two-game slide without superstar Kevin Durant, the Nets will travel to San Antonio to take on the Spurs.
There’s still no cause for concern for the Nets at this stage as they’re still clearly the best performing team in the NBA over the past couple of months, winning 14 of their past 17 games.
The Nets will meet the Spurs for the second time in a fortnight after playing hosts to them in their first game of the new year. They destroyed the Spurs by 36 points in a dominant wire-to-wire performance.
It’s no secret that the Spurs are tanking this season, so losses aren’t necessarily a concern, and luckily for that because they’ve had a ton of them in recent weeks – they’ve lost five on the spin and eight of their last nine.
Even without Durant, the Nets are the far superior team in this matchup and should be winning this comfortably despite being on the road. I like them to cover the spread here for a couple of units.

Portland Trail Blazers at Denver Nuggets
Ball Arena, 1pm AEDT
The Trail Blazers had the luxury of four straight games on their home deck but were unable to capitalise as they split them 2-2.
On a positive note, Their two home wins came in their last two games, which was the first time they’ve strung together back-to-back wins in four weeks.
The Blazers now take on the Nuggets who have been nothing short of dominant on their home floor this season. They’ve 13 straight at Ball Arena and a lot of those wins have been by big margins.
Not only have the Nuggets been dominating teams at home this season, but they’ve also had great success against the Blazers in Denver with wins in each of their last five attempts.
Everything points towards another easy win at home for the Nuggets on Wednesday. I’m more than happy to be on them to score the spread for a couple of units.
Denver Nuggets -6.5

Philadelphia 76ers at Los Angeles Clippers
Crypto.com Arena, 2pm AEDT
The 76ers got away with one against the Lakers last start thanks to a Russell Westbrook miss on the buzzer. They came away with a one-point win and have saluted in seven of their past nine games.
Getting a relatively consistent run at it with a healthy roster has been the key to the 76ers success in recent weeks.
However, they’ll still need to improve their consistency on the road as they’ve been a bottom rank road team in recent seasons and their 10-9 record this campaign is still below par compared to the other contenders in the Eastern Conference.
Meanwhile, the Clippers finally look to be finding some of their better form after going on a horror six-game slide. They enter this clash with two wins from their past three and are slowly but surely getting back to full strength.
At home and with their key guys back and playing well, I believe the Clippers deserve to be the narrow favourites here and as such, see them as good value at the underdog price.
