NBA Betting Tips: Wednesday, 23rd November
Brooklyn Nets at Philadelphia 76ers
Wells Fargo Center, 11:30am AEDT
Two fierce Eastern Conference rivals will lock horns in the opening game of Wednesday’s slate. An extremely undermanned Philadelphia will host Brooklyn at the Wells Fargo Center, with Ben Simmons set to play his first game against his old team.
The 76ers will be without their star trio of Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and James Harden, all of whom are currently injured. The absence of Embiid is of particular disappointment for fans who were licking their lips at the prospect of an Embiid vs Simmons showdown.
The Nets have welcomed back Kyrie Irving from his suspension and are now virtually at full strength. Their increased availability of their key players is starting to show on the court as they come into this game having won six of their last nine.
While their offence has become a lot more fluid and potent with Irving back on the court, they do take a hit defensively. Similarly, the 76ers won’t be at their best on that end of the floor without their anchor in Embiid protecting the rim. This should lead to a high-scoring affair where both teams will have plenty of joy attacking the rim. Take the overs in this one.

Sacramento Kings at Memphis Grizzlies
FedExForum, 12pm AEDT
There will be some quality basketball being played at the FedExForum on Wednesday, with the 10-7 Grizzlies hosting the 9-6 Kings. Unfortunately for the Grizzlies, they’ll likely be without their two stars in Ja Morant and Desmond Bane, while the Kings will go in at full strength.
The Grizzlies are yet to play at full strength this season and that’s one of the reasons they’re down in seventh spot in the West, although the signs are clear that they’ll be right in the mix if they can all get on the court together. Ja Morant is playing at an MVP level, and Desmond Bane will be in the mix for his first All-Star appearance if he can hold his early form.
The Kings weren’t at their best in their recent outing against the Pistons, but they put the clamps on late to record yet another win. They’ve now won six straight games for the first time since January 2005 and are starting to gain some respect around the league as a result.
These teams met in late October, and it was the Grizzlies who secured a relatively easy win on the day. However, the Kings have gone on to win nine of their 11 games since and are arguably the form team in the league. On current form, they should be able to get over the line against a Grizzlies outfit likely missing both Morant and Bane.

Los Angeles Lakers at Phoenix Suns
Footprint Center, 2pm AEDT
Pacific Division rivals, the Lakers and the Suns, will go to battle for the first time this season on Wednesday. After struggling to win a game in this matchup for a number of years, the Suns have dominated the Lakers in the past 18 months, including sweeping them 4-0 last season.
The Suns have been hit by the injury bug in a bad way in the first quarter of the season, but they’ve still been able to continue to tick over the win column at a modest rate. They were easy winners at home last start against the Knicks, taking their overall record to 10-6.
The Lakers have had a tumultuous start to their season but enter this slate on a three-game win streak, all of which were on their home deck. It’s just the second time this season they’ve been able to string wins together, and it takes them to 5-10 and 13th spot in the Western Conference.
The Lakers will be building some resemblance of confidence on the back of recent wins, although they still have a long way to go until they begin to be taken seriously. On top of that, they’re yet to win a game away from home and now come up against one of the best teams in the league. I expect them to struggle against the Suns on this occasion.
