NBA Betting Tips: Thursday January 19th
Washington Wizards at New York Knicks
Madison Square Garden, 11:30am AEDT
After having their mini three-game winning run busted against the Raptors recently, the Knicks will be looking to begin a new win streak on their home deck on Thursday.
They return to Madison Square Garden having won seven of their past nine outings, and that type of form has seen them rise to sixth in the Eastern Conference Standings.
Meanwhile, down in 12th spot in the East, the Wizards will be looking to kickstart their year with a win on the road. They’ve won only two of their seven games so far in 2023 and recently went 1-3 on a four-game homestand.
The Knicks got the chocolates in the nation’s capital just last week (112-108) and their chances of doubling the dose only increase on their own floor. With that said, I’m keen to back the Knicks in to win and cover the spread to kick off a great day of NBA action.

Indiana Pacers at OKC Thunder
Paycom Center, 12pm AEDT
The Pacers were the talk of the town on the back of eight wins from 10 games a couple of weeks ago, but now find themselves in complete contrasting form. They’ll head to Oklahoma on Thursday having lost each of their past four outings.
It’s not the fact the young Pacers are losing games that’s the issue - it’s the way they’ve been losing. Three of their four defeats during this stretch have been by 13+ points, and they’ve given up 130+ points in each of their last two.
It doesn’t get any easier for the Pacers when they head to OKC to take on an in-form Thunder outfit. The Thunder have won three in a row and five of their past six in what’s been a very impressive stretch for such a youthful roster.
Even more impressive is that two of the Thunders recent wins have been on the road against legitimate title contenders in the Nets and the 76ers.
Simply put, the Thunder are rolling at the minute and the Pacers are struggling. At home, I expect the Thunder to get the job done and cover the small spread.

Minnesota Timberwolves at Denver Nuggets
Ball Arena, 2pm AEDT
After three games at home, the wounded Timberwolves will now head on the road and their first stop will be in Denver to take on the Nuggets.
Despite being undermanned, the Timberwolves put in a good account of themselves in all three home games to come away with two wins. The victory against the Cavaliers was particularly impressive as they were able to stem the tide and outscore them 61-48 in the second half.
Speaking of strong form on their home floor, the Nuggets are the best in the competition at putting on a show for their fans. They enter this slate having won 14 straight at Ball Arena and many of those have been comfortable wins.
I admire the fight the Timberwolves have shown in recent games despite being without at least one of their stars at all times, however, I can’t see them having any success in Denver under these circumstances. The Nuggets should be far too solid and consistent at home.
Denver Nuggets -8.5
