The Adelaide Crows will host the GWS Giants from Adelaide Oval at 2.10pm on Saturday afternoon. The Both teams currently sit outside the top 8 but can stake their claim for a spot in the eight with a win here. As usual, PuntingInDanger has you covered with a full preview and betting tips for the clash below.
AFL Adelaide vs GWS Betting Tips
Adelaide Oval, Saturday 1st May 2.10pm (AEST)
Both the Crows and Giants are coming off losses in Round 6 and will be desperate to bounce back to star in touch with the top eight. The two teams have had mirroring fortunes so far this year, winning some games in surprising fashion but also trotting out some disappointing results.
Match Prediction
The Giants had the unenviable task of facing the Western Bulldogs in Round 6 and were understandably beaten. The 41 point margin, however, was in no way indicative of the way the game was played, with the Giants remaining in the game until mid-way through the fourth quarter. They were super competitive against the top team in the league, a performance which was coming off the back of two straight upset wins over the Magpies and Swans.
Adelaide are 3-3 this season with wins over Geelong, Gold Coast and North Melbourne. They have lost their last two games in a row to the Dockers and Hawks, games they would have been desperate to win considering a tough schedule coming up over the next month. After this clash against the Giants, the Crows face Port Adelaide, West Coast, Melbourne and Richmond over the next four weeks, so a win here is almost crucial.
The Crows are battling a fair lengthy injury list at the moment. They’ll be without skipper Rory Sloane this week, along with Daniel Talia, Wayne Milera, Mitch Hinge, Will Hammill, Ben Davis, Sam Berry and star midfielder Matt Crouch.
The Giants are arguably the most banged up team in the league at the moment. The list of players on the sidelines for GWS includes skipper Stephen Coniglio, Phil Davis, Matt de Boer, Nick Haynes, Tom Hutchesson, Adam Kennedy, Daniel Lloyd, Braydon Preuss and Sam Reid. On a positive note, Lachie Whitfield will make his long awaited 2021 debut this week after recovering from a bruised liver.
Another extremely tough game to call to add to the list of 50-50 games on the AFL schedule this week. The Crows have had the wood over the Giants of late, winning their last two games, both played at Adelaide Oval. They start as the slightest of favourites here but I’m really struggling to split these two sides. I think this is a close game that goes back and fourth for the majority of the day. I love the ‘any other result’ in the wire to wire market, a bet that has hit in four of the last six games between these two sides.

Crows Prop
If it wasn’t for Taylor Walker’s outstanding season so far, Shane McAdam might be getting a little more credit for his goal scoring prowess through 2021. He has booted 13 goals through six games so far and booted two against the Giants last year. Back him to kick another two at good odds on Saturday.
Giants Prop
Jake Riccardi has been back in the Giants line-up for three weeks now but has hit the scoreboard just twice with one goal in each of his games against the Magpies and Swans. He finished last season in a flurry, kicking 9 goals in his five games of 2020. The Crows have been involved in some high scoring games this season so I think Riccardi should get opportunity up forward. His odds to kick 2+ or even 3+ are pretty enticing here.
Unfortunately Riccardi was ommited for Jesse Hogan. There could be some value about the former Demon and Docker to hit the scoreboard.
