Not the most anticipated match of the round to finish off this weekend’s footy but it will still be an interesting one with two sides who are desperate to climb up the AFL ladder. The Kangaroos finally got some points on the board with a come from behind win over Hawthorn last weekend while the Bombers prevailed in a tight win over Fremantle.

Match Preview
The Kangaroos are finally on the board after a tough win against Hawthorn last weekend. The pressure has slightly been released on the coaching and playing group but they will want to back that up with another good performance here this week. It’s been a season to forget so far but there were good signs last week and maybe that was just the confidence booster they needed.
Essendon have been up and down all year but have struggled to put games away after looking in with a winning chance for a lot of them. They currently hold a 3-6 record and a win here would see them trending in the right direction following a good victory over the Dockers last week. They have had the wood over the Kangaroos in recent times, winning the last five meetings between these sides and look a good chance to make that six straight this afternoon.
On form alone, you would think that Essendon should just be too good for North Melbourne today, and you could argue the Bombers should have a better record than they currently have to show. They’ve gone down in some heartbreakingly tight games and could easily have a winning record. The Kangaroos have shown little all season and while they did show plenty of fight last week, the skills were still not at the level they need to be to be competitive in this competition.
I am expecting the Bombers to come out firing and will be looking to string back to back wins together.

Thinking crowd favourite Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti can have a good day out against the struggling Kangaroos defence. He is elite in crumbing around the stoppages and has been in quality goal kicking form. He’s kicked 22 goals this season across 9 matches, kicking 3+ in four of those. This looks a match where he will have plenty of roaming freedom and should enjoy a good time of it on the ball.

Aaron Hall has been a shining light for the Kangaroos this season, racking up plenty of touches throughout each match this season. He has had 33, 37 and 28 disposals repsectiveley across his last three games and is in brilliant form. Has had 30+ disposals on 3 occasions this season and it looks a decent priced chance.
