Friday Night Footy has tossed up an absolute blockbuster in Round 10 as the Brisbane Lions host the Richmond Tigers in what should be a thrilling clash. PuntingInDanger was 5/6 in his best bets last week and is back with a full preview and tips for the clash below.
AFL Brisbane vs Richmond Betting Tips
Gabba, Friday 21st May 7.50pm (AEST)
The Lions and Tigers duelled in a thrilling qualifying final last season that ended in a 15 point win to Brisbane at the Gabba. Richmond of course went on to win the Grand Final a few weeks later at the very same venue, so it’s safe to say there is some bad blood between these two teams.
Match Prediction
The Tigers produced a special performance in Round 9 as they travelled to Sydney to take on the Giants and won a thrilling match extremely undermanned. They trailed for whole game before a fourth goal from superstar Dustin Martin in the dying minutes put them in front. The win sent them to 5-4 on the season so far and kept them in the eight for another week, currently sittin one game ahead of a pack of three trailing teams.
After a slow start to the season which saw them lose three of their first four games, the Lions have bounced back to win five on the trot. They were far too good for the Suns on the weekend, capturing a monster 73 point win on the Gold Coast, spearheaded by a best on ground performance from star midfielder Jarryd Lyons.
The Lions are still without reigning Brownlow Medalist Lachie Neale, but they seem to be getting gon just fine without him, with the midfield core of Lyons and Hugh McCluggage having standout years. Apart from Nealr, the Lions look solid on the innjjruy front, with only Cam Rayner, Noah Answerth and Jarrod Berry missing from their best 22.
The Tigers are ravaged by injury at the moment. Shai Bolton and Shane Edwards joined the injury list last week which already includes the likes of Dion Prestia, Ivan Soldo, Kane Lambert and Trent Cotchin, none of whom will be likely to return this week.
With so many out, the Tigers had to scratch and claw to get over the line against the Giants in Round 9, and they did a hell of a job of it. Regardless of who is out for the Tigers, their style of play which relies so much on high intensity pressure, always seems to keep them in games even when they are outmatched on paper.
I think the Tigers give the Lions a much more competitive battle on Friday night than Brisbane have gotten from some minnows in Fremantle and Gold Coast over the last two weeks. I think this one is close from start to finish so the ‘any other result’ in the W2W market seems good value at $2.20.

Same Game Multi
Trying something different this week instead of the team props and opting to give you a same game multi that will coincidentally be just over $2.00 in value and three total legs (for all of you Sportsbet users)
Rhys Mathieson came into the side when Lachie Neale went out and has racked up games of 14, 18 and 20 touches, improving every week. Jack Ross got a massive bump in midfield time on the weekend with so many key Tiger mids out, racking up 18 touches ,his previous best for the season being just 10. Jayden Short hasn’t had a game with under 20 disposals yet this season, a perfect 9-0 clearing that mark and takes nearly all of the kickouts at Richmond.
