AFL Adelaide vs St Kilda Betting Tips
Adelaide Oval, Monday July 20th, 7.40pm (AEST)
The Crows are still hunting their first win of the season while the Saints will be looking to bounce back from one of the more embarrassing games of football in recent memory when the two teams duke it out on Monday night.
Adelaide
So far, the only highlight of the Adelaide season so far has been a funny interaction between Riley O’Brien and Nic Naitanui after the Crows loss to the Eagles on the weekend. Adelaide just haven’t been able to make anything happen in 2020, losing all six of their games and maintainin a percentage of just 53.0 so far.
It’s a tough look for the Crows, who played off in a grand final just a few years ago but have since fallen off a cliff. Their games are genuinely hard to watch, littered with slow ball movement, skill errors and more turnovers than you can poke a stick at.
The one bright spot on the Crows list so far has been Will Hamill, who looks to be a genuine find and has had some really impressive stretches in games so far. Apart from him, there is just nothing positive to say about the Crows at the moment.
St Kilda
It’s easier to find positives in the Saints season so far, as long as you exclude the horrendous performance they showed on the weekend. Up by six goals at quarter time, the Saints were absolutely steam rolled in the second and third quarter as Fremantle booted 10 of the next 11 goals to snatch what looked to be a certain St Kilda victory.
The Saints were no doubt the more talented team on the day, but they just got complacent with such a big lead, something they have done in multiple games this year. The Saints are far and away the best first quarter team in the competition this year, but have squandered leads against the Roos, Tigers, Blues and Dockers.
There are so many players to love at the Saints at the moment. Hunter Clarke, Rowan Marshall, Max King, Jack Steele, Nick Coffield and Callum Wilkie all look like genuine stars, but there’s no doubt they have some passengers in the likes of stalwart Seb Ross. Expect the selection axe to swing this week at Moorabbin.
Prediction
As deplorable as the Saints were on the weekend, they get the opportunity to bounce back against the worst team in the league, and we think they will. They should get out to a big lead again in the first quarter and I can’t see them letting it slip against a side that commits as many turnovers as the Crows do.
