AFL Round 6 Sunday Betting Tips
Port Adelaide vs Greater Western Sydney
Metricon Stadium, 1.05pm (AEST)
The Power will host the Giants in the game of the day on Sunday as they look to maintain top spot on the ladder. They currently have a 4-1 record through the opening five games but will be keen to bounce back from a disappointing loss to the Lions last week. The Power never really looked in the game after wayward kicking for goal derailed their first quarter.
The Giants were super impressive in Round 5, earning a 34 point victory over the Hawks on Sunday. They controlled possession of the ball for the entire game, racking up a ridiculous 107-53 uncontested marks as the picked apart the Hawks defence.
The skills of the Giants was on full display last week and they’ll get star midfielder Callan Ward back from injury here to further strengthen their midfield. They looked like the best side in the competition against the Hawks and have moved into Premiership favouritism through the week. Hard to bet against them.
Richmond vs Sydney
The Gabba, 3.35pm (AEST)
It’s really tough to get a read on the Tigers at the moment, and we feel like absolutely anything could happen in their Sunday clash against the Swans. They are just a week removed from what could have been a season defining win over the Demons, however, many of their key players didn’t make the trip to the Queensland hub, forcing them to make five changes heading into the game.
Bachar Houli, Dion Prestia, Shane Edwards, Toby Nakervis and Trent Cotchin will all come out of the side with a host of depth players coming in. The Swans have also made a few changes, but shouldn’t be affected as much.
Tough game to call here. The Tigers start as 3.5 point favourites and despite their outs, you have to think that’s about right given the lacklustre performance the Swans showed last week. Still, we are leaning towards the Swans here, there are just too many unknowns on the side of the reigning premiers.
Carlton vs Western Bulldogs
Metricon Stadium, 6.45pm (AEST)
What a joy it would be to be a seagull on the stands of Metricon Stadium at the moment. After a double header on Saturday, the ground will host its fourth game of the weekend on Sunday night as the Blues take on the Bulldogs from 6.45pm. The Dogs will be coming off a solid win over North Melbourne while the Blues will be looking to bounce back from a loss to the Saints.
Lachie Hunter will finally make his return to the Dogs line-up after missing four games through suspension and he’ll be a straight swap for Hayden Crozier, who will serve his own suspension.
Dogs shouldn’t lose this. They are in solid form at the moment, coming off three straight wins over the Giants, Swans and Roos. They start as 10.5 point favourites and we are happy to back them at that line.
