A-League Round 4 Betting Tips
Newcastle Jets vs Western Sydney Wanderers
McDonald Jones Stadium, Friday 7:05pm AEDT
Newcastle Jets had the round off last weekend so they’ve had plenty of time to reflect on their disappointing 1-0 defeat against Central Coast in Round 1. It’s certainly been a tough couple of months for the Jets on and off the field, but a couple of positive results on the pitch would make a lot of troubles go away.
Western Sydney Wanderers have only played the one game thus far and that was a 1-0 defeat at home to the new team in Macarthur. The Wanderers certainly created enough chances with six shots on target, but would be disappointed not to see one find the back of the net.
Both clubs were losers in their first outing and have now had an extra week to prepare for this one. For us, the Wanderers were the more promising of the two and we expect them to bounce back here against a Jets outfit lacking leadership on and off the field.

Macarthur FC vs Wellington Phoenix
Campbelltown Stadium, Saturday 5:05pm AEDT
Macarthur were excellent in their inaugural A-League match against the Wanderers, winning 1-0 away from home. They weren’t quite as good second up against the Mariners however, but a 1-1 start is decent considering it’s their first season in the league.
Wellington are coming off a fantastic 2019-20 season and were hopeful of getting off to a positive start this campaign, however, Sydney FC proved too clinical in their first game, which ended up as a 1-2 loss at ‘home’ for the Phoenix.
Again, both clubs are coming off losses and would have watched plenty of film leading into this game in order to get back on the winners list. Macarthur are certainly a dangerous outfit and look as though they’ll pick up their fair share of wins this season, although we expect the class and experience of Wellington to shine through in this one.
Brisbane Roar vs Melbourne Victory
Dolphin Stadium, Sunday 6:05pm AEDT
Brisbane Roar bounced back from an opening round defeat to Melbourne City by securing all three points against Melbourne Victory via a 3-1 score line. Roar were clearly the better team in the match, especially in the second half, which will give them plenty of confidence in the reverse fixture on Sunday.
Melbourne Victory were decent early in the match against Brisbane Roar but weren’t able to sustain their intensity for the full 90 minutes and ended up on the wrong end of the 3-1 score line. Callum McManaman was the shining light for Victory with his superb strike in the 24th minute.
These clubs would’ve found out a lot about each other last weekend and it’ll be interesting to see the adjustments made for this clash. With that said, it’s impossible to back against the better team in the Roar, who now have home ground advantage on their side as well.
