AFL Round 5 Sunday Betting Tips
Western Bulldogs vs Carlton Blues (Sunday 1:10pm AEST)
First up on Easter Sunday we’ve got an interesting clash between the Western Bulldogs and Carlton at Marvel Stadium. Both sides have had disappointing starts to the season and will be looking to make amends in front of a big crowd.
The Bulldogs looked to be flying when they defeated the Hawks in Round 2 to make it back to back wins to start the season. However, they’ve since gone on to lose to the Suns and the Magpies to sit in 11thplace at 2-2 on the season. Marcus Bontempelli (31 disposals per game) is enjoying a spectacular start to the season, while Jack Macrae (34 disposals per game) has continued on from his 2018 form.
The Blues have been in all of their games so far but sit 0-4 coming into Round 5. Losses to the Tigers (33 points), Power (16), Swans (19), and most recently the Suns (2) have the Blues faithful asking a lot of questions about whether the club is heading in the right direction or not. Despite their lack of team success, skipper Patrick Cripps has been excellent on an individual level with 31 touches a game so far.
A pretty difficult game to get a read on here with both teams in losing form. However, we do see the Blues as the more likely of the two to cover the spread. Their biggest losing margin is 33 points (Tigers R1) and they’ve played a few handy teams thus far. We see them being a real sniff of causing an upset on a big occasion.

Adelaide Crows vs Gold Coast Suns (Sunday 4:40pm AEST)
The second game of Sunday’s double-header sees the Adelaide Crows host the Gold Coast suns at Adelaide Oval. This twilight fixture is a crucial one for the struggling Crows who have failed to live up to expectations thus far.
The Crows have been one of the more disappointing teams so far in 2019. They’re coming off a loss to North Melbourne last time out in a game where they were simply not hard enough in the contest. That loss took their season tally to 1-3 and raised a few questions about their chance of playing in September later this season.
On the other hand, the Suns have shocked everyone with just how competitive they’ve been through the first four rounds of the season. After losing their opening match to the Saints by one point in a nail-biter, Stuart Dew’s Suns have gone on to win each of their next three to place themselves in seventh spot on the ladder.
Depsite the Suns winning form, the Bookies have them as heavily underdogs here against the Crows in Adelaide. While we do agree that the Crows should get their second win of the season, we believe the Suns have the ability to keep it a lot close than what their spread suggests.
